Title: Hello from Canada
Post by: Luftpistole on September 21, 2011, 02:04:28 AM
Hi everyone.

I have gotten back into airgunning from a long hiatus starting again with a 70 year anniversary Daisy Red Ryder.  I now seem to be gathering air guns and the likes.  Stuff I never seen before as a kid.

I wasn't allowed to have a Co2 gun when small because the cartridges were too much money (achieved excellent muscle development on a Slavic springer gun).

Same story as battery operated cars, had to have wind up.  Man, I wished I would have saved that old wind up crawler tractor that spit sparks through the stack, oh well.  Funny how things get more reasonable as time goes on.

Looking forward to seeking answer and sharing solutions.

Thanks for bringing back some old memories. I remember the crawler, I remember it was green and would almost climb the walls with the rubber tracks. I got the windup toys too because the only thing we had that was battery operated, besides the car, was the AM radio with the BIG battery. We're telling our age here, what are we doing still playing with "toy" guns? LOL

Welcome neighbor! :)
You have come to the right place.  Collectively we probably own most airguns made in the last 50yrs.  We recently created the Vintage Gate if older guns or models is what you are interested in, but we have something for everyone.  You won't be bored here!

Great history! It is usually the other way around, starting with a Red Ryder springer as a kid, then going to a "big springer" as an adult.

You're catching up for lost time here. ;)

Welcome to the club.

I thank you all for the very warm welcome, it is much appreciated.

To answer a few questions and to share stories here it goes.  I have a old radio that was on battery power but converted to 110 by my father in law Milkman, I loved the old days when things were a lot simpler. It is a stand up Crosley.

I am a target shooter dk1677.  I tried hunting when I was 12 and remember shooting at a rabbit on the farm in late November.  His colours were just changing and I started to second guess that maybe I was shooting at some wooden stump.  I fired 7 shoots at him with no sign of a kill.  I jumped ahead and he moved just as quick with what I am sure was a Tylenol headache.

The gun that I had from 40 years ago Lizzie was a gun made in Czechoslovakia.  If I can describe it from memory it was break barrel .177 pellet with a hooded front post sight and a screw cap at the end of the reciever.  It had a steel pressed trigger with a ramp rear sight.  The stock was dark brown and slender.  It was bought from Simpson Sears at about 1972.  I used the gun and traded it in on a TOL Russian .22 bolt action rimfire which has proven to be quite a gun.

Any comments on the description to tell me the make of the pellet gun is much appreciated.

Dan,

Hi everyone.

I have gotten back into airgunning from a long hiatus starting again with a 70 year anniversary Daisy Red Ryder.  I now seem to be gathering air guns and the likes.  Stuff I never seen before as a kid.

When I was real young they did not have any electric toys only wind up.  Portable radios had not even been heard of.
