Just received a new one and took it to get filled at a local dive shop. They been filling these tanks for years...but only guarantee a 4300 psi fill.
When I got home there was barely 3000 psi (mine also has a tank status gauge).
How much pressure drop can there be if your tank is warm to the touch after filling ? I'm thinking this was not the regular "tank guy" ?

What did the gauge read right after he filled it?
Before Mr. George retired and closed SeaDivers scuba shop in Ozark, Al. and before I purchased my compressors, I used to have him inspect and fill my tanks. (100 and 80 cf 3300psi scuba)
Mr. George would fill the tanks while submerged in a tank of water. After the initial fill he would leave them in the water to cool then top them off..... and for a mere $4 each. At that timre my only PCP guns were 3 FD-PCP guns with max fill at under 2k. Plenty of fills with those 2 tanks.
BTW.... annual visual inspection was $12, fill included and Hydro inspection was $24, fill included.
The Hydro required leaving the tank for a week but Mr. George would give me a full loaner 80cf to use for the week... no extra charge.
I dearly miss Mr. George Perez. The man was 88 years old and still giving scuba lessons. I could spend hours listening to his stories of his lifetime of diving adventures. He also had a showcase full of things he found on his dives over the years. Some very interesting items.

I did not check the gauge after filling. I've used scuba for years (3000 psi). I'll go back Saturday.

When I was still going into Nashville to get my 45 min scba tank filled at Island Hoppers the owner would overfill my tank by 300 psi to allow for cool-down pressure drop. Now I just fill my own with My YH and top to 4300 psi, I don't stress about the rest as I don't want to overwork the YH or blow another burst disc. If I ever get to where I need more air I'll just pick up another used tank.

I fill mine to 4700 for cool down to 4500, if it's says 3000 and holding there they only filled it to 3000, the guy doing the filling probably never filled an SCBA tank before. or just forgot.....

After cooling, they usually drop about 200 psi. Definitely not filled to 4300!

I don't think he was the regular guy filling tanks...and he just filled to 3000.
Once i got some 9oz paintball tanks filled and driving home it was very hot. At a red light one went off and I had stick my head out the window till it stopped.
