Hi.
Is anyone familiar with the Beeman Longhorn break barrel?
It won Hard Air Magazine's gold award and that is the last article I've seen written about it.
Thanks!

Available on Amazon! Get one and report back!

It is my next springer, for sure.
I think it is a copy of the Norica Marvic.
(That would make the rs2 trigger is a copy of the Norica NATS trigger.)

I don't know the Chinese Beeman's that well, but seems like there are so many variants of what appears to be the same rifle that my head gets spinning. I've heard of the Longhorn, Grizzley, Teton... what's the difference??
-
I've looked at the longhorn and elkhorn. Don't know enough about the Chinese Beeman rifles to buy one. Is their support good, or parts available? I know the Ruger Chinese guns can take Diana parts, do the Beeman parts interchange with any other brands readily available?
They seem like good deals, just thinking long term.

Don’t take this as gospel, but I think they’re just another B19 or full size gamo clone.
One member here had the RS2 dual cal and had each barrel (.177/.22) dedicated clamp on pic mount with red dot.
Another member got 2 RS2’s and kept one in .177 and one in .22.
Those aren’t the Longhorns, but I think the longhorn is a RS2 in fancy clothes.

Looks like the RS2 in a thumbhole stock. Here's an old link:

I bought a Beeman RS2 "Silver Kodiak X2 Dual Caliber" when they were at Walmart for $89 a few years back.
That was my introduction to "springers" and because I was new, it took me a while to figure out the proper way to hold it.
Then learning that different (quality) pellets REALLY DO make a difference.
Today it is still a hoot to shoot with it's favorite tin in either .177 or .22.

Scott, your Silver Kodiak is soooo much better looking now! ;D ;D

Thank you!
Shadow AKA: Brother Ed gets all the credit for that! ;)

I wish Walmart still carried Beemans. Missed my chance to pick up an RS2 when they were selling for $80.

Ahem...

Just for the record I tried to resist showing off. ;) ;D

I suggest cautious optimism regarding this rifle (review from 2016).

I've purchased several Beeman break-barrels (and CO2 rifles) over the last 4 years. The springers are all functional shooters, but they all had some surprises as well. The triggers vary from the hard direct sear on the Black Cub, to any of 3 variants of RS(x) triggers, to a "mystery trigger" on my Silver Kodiak that that is NOT one of the RS variants. Trigger mods can be difficult and may not make a significant improvement if you get a "bad" one from the factory.
I purchased all of my Beemans at DEEP discount clearance sales so I am happy with the rifles I received for the prices paid. If I had paid full price for any of them, I would have been DISAPPOINTED by what I received.
From what I've read Beeman was a GOOD air rifle manufacturer before I got back into airguns. My recent experience is that they are now entry level airguns made in China. Manufacturing materials and tolerances range from good to poor and every new acquisition (for me) has an unexpected surprise (What is THAT thing?).
For reference, Black Cub (2 barrels) $50 new, Sportsmans RS1000 Series (multiples, all different with various triggers) ~$60 new, Silver Kodiak (2 barrels, w/mystery trigger) ~$70 refurbished...
and I think I saw the Longhorn on sale somewhere (2019 ish?) for ~$70 new which is the maximum I would pay for that particular air rifle. I think there are too many other air rifles available for $70-$100 that I know I'd like better. At $70 the Longhorn is already crossed off my shopping list.

Hi again.
I bought a Longhorn this weekend and . . . .
After the usual ignition shots (with 10 g's into a pillow), I sat down at my rest with a tin of CPHP 7.9's to shoot open sights.
Lighting and wind were nearly ideal.
After figuring out the right hold, and with some patient sighting, I got THE best 5 shot springer group I have ever shot at 25yds.
I'd say which coin the group fit under, but who would believe it? Ha ha!
BTW, it's a no-foolin' 1000fps, 17.5 ft lb beast, just like it says on the box.
I'll write a review when I figure out how to post photos.
Thanks,
Pelletsport

I've been under the impression that the Beemans are among the better Chinese offerings, coming from a different factory than most. MikeyB's first-hand experience a couple of posts up shook my impressions pretty hard. OTOH, I have never seen a good Chinese airgun, personally, to date. Issues, issues, or what Mikey said.
