Title: FWB Sport Glitch
Post by: DonC on February 18, 2021, 08:11:49 PM
The first one I bought had a problem. I sent it back. They were sold out so I bought a tuned one from Flying Dragons. I really love this rifle but the glitch has happened in my 2nd rifle. Please let me/us know if you have experienced this same problem/glitch.
Problem, rifle will not cock, safety is on, you must take it off and pull the trigger. You will hear click in the trigger mechanism. You can then cock the rifle.
This has happened twice on my 2nd rifle. The first was so bad it had to be returned. It happened almost every time.

Quick question Don. Are you manually pulling the safety back into the safe position before you cock the rifle?

that is strange?  How is the safety on when you have not cocked the rifle yet?  on HW rifles, the safety is always off after you fire, then after you cock the rifle, the safety comes on automatically.

The problem. You fire the rifle and for some reason the safety goes on. Now you can't cock it. You must take the safety off AND then pull the trigger to hear the trigger group go click. I assume the sear. Now it will cock.  The first rifle I had performed like this 80 per cent of the time. I sent it back. Pilkington has serviced one other rifle with these same symptoms.

OK, I get it now, so basically after firing the safety is coming on automatically before you even cock it, so it prevents you from being able to cock it until you take the safety off, and you still need to pull the trigger.  That is very annoying.

I have a feeling the problem may be caused by an incomplete cocking stroke, the safety will move to the rear before the trigger is set, cock firmly at the end of the stroke and problem should go away. Just tested a sporter and thats what i found.

I haven't had that problem with either of our two new Sports, but thanks for the heads-up and possible causes and solutions. Appreciate the info.

This happenned to one time. I agree with MM. Don’t  1/2 cock it. Its built like a tank so once the barrel stops, its fully cocked. No need to gorilla slam the barrel, but just a good firm stroke. The trigger adjustment is rather sensitive so i wouldn’t recommend fooling with it much at all.

On the first rifle I tried cocking it harder and softer in an effort to prevent the safety from going on after firing. Nothing seemed to help.
