Mods, move the topic if you feel the need. This gate gets more traffic than the casting section I feel.
How many of you own and are casting the NOE .30 BBT mold? I'm having a hard time finding info on the mold, other than the real early "here's a new mold option for sale at NOE" posts. I'm looking for accuracy results and hopefully pictures of targets. If you've posted results from a hunting trip using these slugs, please post a link to the thread if you could. Tuning info is welcome of course, but I'm more interested in the accuracy of the slugs. HP or solid doesn't matter to me. TIA for any info.

ETA- below is for .308. Were you talking about the .300 NOE BBT 68 grain?

I have a mold that is very similar. When you get near to the shooting point just PM me and I'll send you some to try out. The design I sent is still on accurate molds site- http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=31-134B (http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=31-134B)
Or ask Steelhead if he'd send some from that 134 BBT mold.

Yessir- looking for accuracy results from the NOE 68 gr. (62 gr HP) BBT slug. I should have specified the weight.
Whew! Those 134 gr look beastly! But I'm looking to use low weight slugs- the 68 gr. BBT's being about as heavy as I want to go. The gun in question is a modified Mrod using a Cothran valve. I want to be able to use a mag, so keeping the slugs short enough to fit in a mag is mandatory.

Glad you brought this up...interested in this too Tom. I am running a TJ barrel (pretty sure it is choked) on the Mrod platform.

Is it a barrel from WAR? Jim was the only person I know putting a choke on his TJ barrels.
I only bring it up because I'm having a devil of a time trying to find pictures of groups of this particular slug. I'd like to see results of these slugs as they're cast before deciding to modify the mold. I'm not even sure I can modify the mold, because these slugs are already shorter than JSB's.

I have some 61-62 grain .30 bbt. I’ll shoot them out of my modded rainstorm and take a picture of the group. I only have about 40 yards at the moment to shoot but I’ll give it a go. It’s a 1-26 twist I believe.

You would be a life saver! I just can't seem to get ANY target pictures for some reason. Did you swap the RS's barrel for a TJ?
I'll for sure post my findings (I think I'm going to have to test some before/if I do any mods to the mold) here, since they're so hard to come by. Only bad part is, I'm not sure when I'll be able to do that. This build will probably take a while. It's leaning towards a slightly more complicated path.
-
Tom my .30 Mrod has a 24" TJ's unchoked barrel> I have shot NSA 67gr slugs and found the accuracy excellent. I cannot find my old targets it was 2 years ago when Lloyd completed the build for me. We went with a longer barrel than stock to get over the 100 fpe mark for 8 regulated shots

This is the barrel that came with the 30 caliber it’s a stock barrel . Ive shot 44 and 50 grain JSB as well as Nielsen 50 and 55 grain, varmint knockers 62 grain the 61 grain BBT and a 66 grain BBT from Rick Morrill all were accurate out of this barrel. It’s been raining here the last couple days I’ll catch a sunny day so I can run through the Chronograph And get some numbers as well as a target picture. It’s slightly modified bored to 203, And I’m running a short stiff spring for a free flight

Your build, along with Lloyd's work was the catalyst and pattern from which my .30 Mrod bullpup came from (the one that got lost in the mail >:( I'm STILL mad about that). I know the platform can perform- I'm looking for accuracy results with the 68gr (62gr HP) BBT slugs from NOE. I'll post my results either way. I was just looking to get a hint of the type of accuracy from the combination of the NOE 68gr BBT and the 1-26 TJ that they were designed for. The larger plenum and longer barrel plus the 500cc tank of my current build should add to that shot count!

Huh! I didn't know the RS barrel was also 1-26. That's interesting! No rush on those groups- post when you can! I appreciate the help!

The only way I'll get a higher shot count is a Titanium air tube ;D

That's true- I was speaking about my current project... Fuzzy did a better job calculating the volume of the plenum, and it looks like it'll have over 100cc's. The barrel will be 28" OAL. Plus that 500cc 4500 psi CF tank. Yeah, my new .30 should be able to do more than 8 shots! ;)

That looks like an interesting project I can't wait to see the finished product

Same! I'm really excited about this one! It's basically a bullpup re-hashed bottle version of your gun

No, the barrel is from TJ's and machined by Mountain Air..Ill have to look back at my notes to see exactly.

That's interesting. Confirm that there's a choke- I'm not aware of anyone choking TJ barrels- except for Jim Gaska... I could be wrong of course. Does TJ's offer a choke?

You are correctomundo....I emailed Roy to see and here is the response:
"They are not choked but be careful not to jam it up with over sized slugs. They don’t compress down like pellets do. I cut the leade for pellets."
-
If the leade is cut for a pellet, that should be fine as far as length is concerned- these 68 gr BBT slugs are shorter than JSB's. Have you shot these slugs yet, or are you still building your gun? Have you slugged your barrel and such?
-
Tom, no I haven't shot any slugs yet, was just looking for a good candidate mold. Yes, the gun is finished a while back, and I have not slugged the barrel yet. I have poured a bunch of .30 pellets with the NOE molds....hope to do some testing in the near future. Was hoping someone may have had experience with this configuration and slug as well.
