Title: Well, I've gone and done it now...
Post by: Danny5691 on January 09, 2021, 12:47:52 PM
After reading/ researching what seems like hundreds of posts, I did it. I couldn't take it anymore. I've ordered my first HW35E from AA. This is what happens when you leave the GTA forum for an extended amount of time and read the fantastic reports of the 35.

This is all your fault, and I'd like to thank each and every one of you 35 owners for your outstanding reviews. Without your knowledge, this purchase would have been much more difficult.

Now the waiting begins!!!

Congrats, Danny. I think you'll enjoy your 35.

Out of the box, mine has always like the FTT 8.64s and that's mostly what I've fed it since then. Out of the box, my 35E also took time to settle down. Seems like I was tightening the action screws a lot. After a couple tins of pellets, though, it's become silky smooth to cock and the action screws only need to be checked on an occasional basis, same as any other springer. Although I have scoped our 35E, I like it best with either a peep (the way I use it, now) or even the stock open sights (also a great way to shoot the35).

Sounds like an Emmy Award speech, LOL!

Send pics when you get it.

35's are awesome!

I just got done shooting a 35e. FANTASTIC gun. Love em. You will be happy.  Just 2 caveats to add.

1-Check your stock screws often. My bad worked loose and even though I have done this for a LONG time now and it’s not my first rodeo I ALWAYS go through that WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON, WHY AM I DOING SO POORLY moment before I think, check the screws.

2-One of mine does not like CPHP at all. It’s a laser beam with H&N and JSB but it doesn’t like CPHP. I only mention because most of my Weihrauch rifles do well with CPHP and to caution that if it doesn’t shoot well with the first pellet you try it’s likely just sensitive to that pellet. Try another.

Enjoy it in good health.

Ahh, Danny!

I just noticed that you got the 35E.

You definitely need to put a sling on it, but then that's just MHO.

Dennis,

Do you rest the barrel on the front support like that when you shoot that 35? None of my rifles will shoot with any precision whatsoever like that.

I think that stand is just for taking photos...

That is kind of what I expected after thinking about it. Although I have tried almost everything over the years I can't imagine it working well with any gun, especially a spring piston air rifle.

Yogi is correct.

I got a deal on that stand so I bought it, but after I set it up I realized that it is not well suited for airguns, especially springers, so for now, it is just for taking pics. The main reason for my 35L in that position is that it nestled nicely with the trigger guard just in front of the rear saddle and I was too lazy to adjust it more forward.

I would never shoot a springer with the barrel resting like that. Barrels need to "float" in order to go through all the harmonics that result from the whole shooting action.

My alternative gun rests are a Caldwell bag or a Caldwell "Stinger" which I also got a deal on from Amazon a while back.
