Title: Crosman Triple-Threat CO2 revolver kit, a fps and accuracy report
Post by: AirCats on January 01, 2021, 01:47:39 AM
 I noticed this revolver kit on Amazon and couldn't control my holiday buying impulse. The hope was "it comes with 3 barrel assemblies, hopefully one of them shoots ok enough".

 my little review and range report.
** the metal trigger has very sharp edges at the tip, hurts the trigger finger. Wearing a thin glove solve the problem. Though I ended up taking out the trigger and file/polished off the sharp points. (soft steel).
** 40 usable shots per CO2 cartridge, though accuracy starts to go down hill after 3 clips (10rd pellets clips).
** trigger breaks cleanly, as long as the clip/disc is rotated, by hand, all the way into position before pulling the trigger (if not, the last little bit of the trigger pull will do the final rotation which worsens the trigger feel)

     CPHP=crosman premier hollow point
3.5" BBL: 355fps with CPHP,
6" BBL: 375fps with CPHP
8" BBL: 400fps with CPHP

Accuracy: groups are measured horizontal x vertical; rested on sand bag.
Since the power is very low, It is only good for short range paper punching, therefore wadcutter type pellet is more appropriate.

RWS Hobby
3" bbl:  1"h x3/4"v 10rd, at 25ft
6" BBL: 1-1/4"h x 1"v 10rd at 25ft
8" BBL: 3/4"h x 1/2"v 10rd at 25ft;

CPHP was only tested using the longer barrel:
8" BBL: 1-1/8"h x 1-1/8"v 10rd at 25ft

the barrel OD is 0.3", and I have a 12" piece of (Daisy 880) barrel laying around so I cut the forcing cone (using a cone-shape dremel bit, chucked to a cordless drill running low speed) and fitted it into the 6" BBL forend.

12" BBL, CPHP, fresh CO2 cartridge: 450fps

accuracy, CPHP: 1/2"h x 1-1/8"v 10rd at 25ft (9 shots in 1/2"x1/2")

fps, with HPA conversion

-- installed a paintball bottom line adapter in place of the CO2 cartridge
-- pressurized using a Hill HPA pump
-- read pressure off the gauge on the Hill pump

tested using CPHP

8" BBL:
650psi => 310fps
750psi => 350fps
850psi => 370fps
950psi => 395fps
1250psi => 435fps

12" BBL:
850psi => 400fps
1250psi => 500fps

 the plastic "barrel" body is 20mm OD. A 20mm id carbon-fiber tube can be fitted over it to make a shroud..... but gas will still leak from the "cylinder gap" so it will never be super quiet.
