Title: Since this is the vintage gate, show your vintage air guns!
Post by: Thud72 on September 15, 2011, 11:56:01 PM
This is my fathers Hahn 45, which I just found out was made by Crosman. The gun has a great feel to it and so much fun to shoot.

Winchester model 435 manufactured in 1978
Marksman model from the mid-70's

I have 3 that are Vintage.
Schimel Gp22
Crosman 600
Crosman 38-C

The Schimel is in need of repair.
The 600 shoots but is prone to getting jammed.
The 38-C shoots all day long.
All 3 are CO2 and .22 cal.

Ah, the Crosman 180 brings back happy memories! It was my first gun, bought for me by my dad when I was about 8 years old in 1956 or 1957, I think. We lived in a large ranch house with a full basement where he set-up an excellent range for year-round shooting. I don't know that I have ever enjoyed another gun more than that one.

Agreed :)
My first airgun, too.  My dad bought it for me for Christmas, 1983-ish.
I still have it and shoot it, but it is begging for refinishing...

Crosman 116 manufactured between 1951-54, I think....
Bulk fill co2, .22 cal, shoots strong and feels great in the hand, accurate too!
Just did a reseal and re-patina, acquired in a trade and the bulk fill head had the usual plier teeth marks as did the power adjuster.
A little lathe work and some chemical help and it looks vintage again.
The original plastic grips shrink over time and these were so tight that once I wrestled them off they would not go back.
Lots of dremel and file work on the inside and they now fit like new.

Andy, I think this one even more than the Turkish gate (of which I am personally fond) lends a bunch to the "interest" of the hobby. One thing I do NOT know much about is vintage stuff beyond what I had as a kid. Airguns have been around for a long time, and I think there is a lot in this gate for many people to learn from and share.

OK, I found another one of my fathers old air guns..but this one I have no idea what it is. I know it is a BB gun and you have to slide the barrel to cock it (like an semi auto .45)..but other than that I have no idea. I think it might even use a slightly smaller BB. I do know that he and his brother repainted it at some time though.

Title: 1977 or earlier Gamo Expotec
Post by: gamo2hammerli on October 07, 2011, 10:41:25 AM
Here's my only old airgun; a 1977 or earlier (Depends how long the shop had it) .177 Gamo Expotec which have a tubular magazine on top of the receiver.  The mag can hold up to 20 pellets, unfortunately only short pellets can be used with the magazine, as there's a metal block ahead of the breech to accept the pellet....and that block is thin.

The barrel is slightly opened so the metal block can rise up in the first photo.

Just added another pic of the tubular magazine.

A friend of mine had one of those and it was a great air rifle. I remember it being very accurate and being able to load and fire 20 pellets at a time was a great option. You would be surprised how quick you can load and fire a break barrel. If I remember correctly, the trigger is not all that great on this one, but it always seemed to hit the target! We could never figure out how to mount a scope and still use the tube magazine on that rifle. Thanks for posting, I sure would like to get a hold of one of those some day…
Title: Re: Since this is the vintage gate, show your vintage air guns!
Post by: gamo2hammerli on October 08, 2011, 11:41:35 AM
Thanks guys.  When they first came out they had a special scope mount for it; it's a bit like a see through mount so the tube magazine can be slipped under the mount.  Back then we were poor and cheap.....so my friend and I never bought it (He also bought the same air rifle except with a plastic pistol grip stock).  Also we never thought about using a scope which would have costed us more money.

That stock and grips were made by RB Grips. I dont think  he makes the stocks any more  for the Cr 600, all he makes are inserts for the 1399 plastic stocks.
Here is a Cr2289G, no longer made in/for the US with one of his stocks and  super pumper forearm.

yeah I'm bummed. I wrote RB and he said no more of those stocks. :(

Then I found a guy on the yellow board who had one and paid waaay too much for it :) problem is I need a matching forearm for it now.

Cant you still get the super pumper arm from RB, its still shown on his web site? The stock you did buy, it was walnut or some other wood?
He should be able to make the forearm for you to match that stock, unless its a wood no longer available. It would be worth a email to him.
I dont know what you paid for a used one, but  that 600 stock cost about 85 bucks, and that was a few years ago. IIRC he charged about that price for the  2240  in walnut and for the 2250 he had a matching forearm which was around 115. he also had one for the 2260 with forearm, dont remember what he charged for that one.
I don't know why he stopped making them. He just did!

Post by: grumpy on October 12, 2011, 07:35:02 AM
I did write him and he said no forearms. The walnut one I bought cost many times that and did not come with the forearm.

WOW, guess you caught him on a bad hair day LOL.
What gun you need it for?

his web site shows forearms for the Prod, 1700p , 2250 and the super pumper for the 1377. maybe he ust not making JUST the forearm , other than for the 1377,  I would question him again.
if he shows it on his web site ,  seems like he would sell ya one.

WEll Pilgram ,there ya go, LOL
I dont ever recall him making a forearm for a 2240. not enough room on the tube.
now if you put a 2250 tube on your 2240 you could get the forearm.
or you could get a 2250 forearm and cut it down and rework it to fit the short 2240 tube.

here are some measurement for a 2250 fore arm. if it works you need the screws and barrel band for a 2250 and the screw adaptor at the front trigger housing
parts # can be gotten from the 2250B on the crosman site.
but I got them for ya. 2250-018 (1), 130b031 (1), 2250-071 (1), 88-089 (1), 151-016 (2)
but do look at the schematic for a 2250.
pics with measurements.
Hope this helps, if you have enough room on that tube, try one more time for a 2250 forearm, maybe the third time is the charm LOL

I found this site while looking for a source for a new seal. I think I found one near by. Went to shoot a pesky rat in the kitchen yesterday and could not get enough pressure. I took it apart and found a rubber plunger that is probably worn. At any rate it is great to share with other enthusiasts. Any idea how many FPS this thing is capable of ? Enough for a close range vermin kill?

Here's my only rifle older than made in 1980.  Its a Feinwerkbau 124 Deluxe in .177 cal.  Its the deluxe version since it has checkering on the pistol grip, a raised cheek piece, grip cap with white spacer, butt pad, as well as mounted swivels for a sling.  It is marked "San Anselmo" and was imported by Beeman to their first place of business in San Anselmo probably around 1972-74, when they still operated out of their home.  A few years later they moved the business a short distance away to San Rafael, CA. That makes this gun one of the first they imported and one of the earlier ones of this model.

Its not totally original anymore.  The stock was personalized with a carving of "Cobra" by the first owner in the 1970s.  That was his Field-Target nickname.  Of course, after the carving, the stock was resealed and the color was stripped away.  Its much lighter than the original light chocolate-brown stock.  This spring gun was the fps king hitting around 800 fps back in the 70s and held that title until the R1 came along and had a velocity over 900 and later broke the 1000fps barrier.  But, the R1 has well over twice the cocking effort of the FWB, which is probably around 20lbs.  Its very easy and fun to plink with all day and still has plenty of power.  Shooting this gun has been good medicine for curing my "magnumitis", since it handles and shoots so easily compared to the more powerful guns.

Enjoy the pics! ;D  Its the gun on top by the way.  The gun below is a non-deluxe stock San Rafael model for comparison.
