This just arrived today for tests by one of our kind fellow members. Hey, it's like Christmas Eve!
Oh wait - tomorrow is Christmas...
Anyway this thing is an intriguing silencer indeed. Not just for its attractively chunky proportions, or its smooth satin black finish, or the secret code milspec alpha-numeric markings, but also because it utilizes a mysteriously new, and as-yet-untried as far as I know, dampening medium...more to come after we try it along with everything else in the next upcoming multi silencer test.

This is the exotically entubed pellet exit end.

Standard 1/2"-20 UNF attachment end thread.

Easily camouflaged for stealth storage.
-
Yes, that's near 13.5 ozs.

That’s a Big ‘un. Thanks for sharing. I am still leaning more towards a modified shroud, whereI don’t change the appearance of the gun, (much). I have a few ideas to try out. Merry Christmas!

Is that you, Anton?

Agree and will be interested to learn what you come up with!
And just to get away from the shroud handicap once and for all, I'll be testing this unit along with about 17-18 other silencers through a bare barreled (meaning no shroud or baffles) PCP air rifle.
Just like how a coral reef breaks down the power of incoming waves to the beach, some have commented that a shroud and/or baffle system breaks down the full power airflow before it reaches the silencer.
So this time there will be no shroud or other airflow reduction device for the silencers tested, and they will be forced to tame the full air blast all by themselves.
I already have some preliminary results that are interestingly different from the prior silencer tests, since those were shot out of an Avenger with its shrouded barrel.
So the next test will be through a 25 FPE bare barreled gun - with no shore break! ;D

I promise it's not Anton... ;D ;D ;D

Many will remember the M.A.D. device. This the out come of it. I have no idea if it will go into production or not. I have been testing it for quite some time now, and was under the impression I was not to talk about it yet. Oh Well.
It incorporates the M.A.D. system of taming the harmonics of the barrel. It is particularly effective in slug shooting. The higher the fpe, the more effective it is.
Some slugs that were not all that accurate became accurate with the device. ;) 8)
M.A.D. was a name given to it or it's prototype that I built and tested by myself and a few others here on the forum. M.A.D. Stands for Mikes AirGun Device.
HobbyMan2007 tested a version and found it work just as intended. Woo-Hoo!
some member gave it a hard time without ever trying the device. Saying it did nothing for an accurate typical pellet shooting AG. This is NOT what it was designed to do. It is for 60-70+ to large fpe slug shooters. I never tested nay of my prototypes with 30 fpe pellet guns as this was not what I designed it for. It's for high power, go big or go home duty. LOL
Travis ask if I minded him working on the idea and is doing so. I want nothing in anyway for the idea or anyone's manufacture of it. I only want to advance the Slug shooting AirGunners.
The number on the Prototype I received is the same HT-68. No idea what it signifies.

Spoiler alert huh Michael?

And for what it's worth, I am still running my version of the MAD on the QB Starling sniping rifle,
and it does MAKE a difference in accuracy, IMHO, and I only have less than 30 fpe air guns,
I have a couple of designs that I can change/move to any other air gun I want to use it on..........
YMMV,
Don

Holy soup can !! :o :o

I was hoping to retain an air of mystery about both the unit and the maker, at least until after the testing, but oh well.
Merry Christmas all! 🎄🎄🎄

So how well did it quiet down the QB? ???

We still don't know if it will be produced by an actual ldc maker. I had no delusions as to quietness, and was actually surprised. It is NOT as quiet as a DonnyFL Shogun for instance. However, it is for accuracy. Its ability to quiet an ag is secondary.
Hopefully there will be longer, and lighter versions available with multiple chambers. ;)

Merry Christmas Michael...
to all reading this also.. ;)

Awesome LDC Mike! Charlie, I’ve found different LDC’s work better on different guns depending on the guns own sound signature. Luv the front of it...looks Star Wars cool 😎.
-
Maybe I should do some accuracy testing as well...

Randall,
I imagine Travis designed the aesthetics. Nice!
thank Kirby Randal and Don! Charlie, hope you do test for accuracy. It is what it does best. On very accurate guns, it is hard for them to improve them. It does help with fliers and bad harmonics on some guns. (Many)

The year Travis was born, would be my guess...

Wow I didn’t think anyone would guess that!!! Yes it’s HT for harmonic tuner and 68 for my birth year. Michael had a lot to do with this device and his MAD concept but I do ask no part of the internals be shown at this time please also it’s built much bigger and heavier because a PB company is looking at producing it and it had to stand up to extreme pressures and temperatures. A much smaller and lighter unit could be made specifically for a PCP. Anyway looking forward to your data. I spend about 80% of my time these days developing products for several PCP manufacturers and two well known PB companies as well as stuff I make just for myself. Not much time in my so called retirement to goof off like I hoped but I still enjoy the process of developing new products. Hard to test it against other LDC because it’s not just a LDC

If it isn't a rude question, Travis, what did you do before retiring?

Last job was at JSAR designing guns and parts. Before that I mostly worked for myself after my car accident in 2008. Before that a engineer and machanic for Polaris then BRP.

Thanks Travis.

I seem to be busier now that I am retired than when I worked as a full time Knife Maker. LOL! Every thing related to slug shooting and development for them. Test, Test,Test!
Time to go Shoot. It's a hard life. LOL!!!
Brrrr! Man that wind is ruff!
Travis, I think you did a fine job of translating it into pb forum! ;) 8)

I missed the original M.A.D. device thread. I searched it up and read the whole thing. Very interesting!
I'm very curious, if anyone has tested a M.A.D. on a Raptor?

It should say "BEANS" on the side, they'll never know...... ;D ;D ;D
