A friend of mine been wanting to get a PCP for sometimes now,
yesterday he came to my house and I gave him a crush course on all PCP related things before even going into the gun so that he would know what he was getting into ;D ;D ;D
He wanted a gun that could be adjustable in power for his kid to use as a trainer in the backyard at low power than for himself or his kid to be powered up to hunt pigs.
I started suggesting DAR, Avenger even Kral explaining that they are affordable, apparently good and can play with the power.
I then let him shoot my guns, he immediately said he wanted one like them, I still tried to steer him towards the afore mentioned but he wouldn't listen he was just in love already.
so I tried to suggest him a Rainstorm .22 mentioning I could set it up for 20 FPE with the cheap crosman pellets for yard shooting, and with a change of the spring it could be a hog hunter in minutes,
but I couldn't convince him, now he wanted a .25 ;D
ordered a Storm .25 and a bunch of JBS 34gr from Pyramyd
He has scuba tanks, so ordered a fill unit, a foster adaptor, a UTG 3-9 scope and a handpump from Amazon ;D
Lets see where he goes from here ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like you friend hit the jackpot with having you for a neighbor. It's always fun to get a newbie hooked on our addiction!
-
Manny, where did you friend order a Rainstorm from?
Evanix appears to be really slim pickings right now. Their semi autos & Rex' are the only ones I've seen.
-
Pyramyd still had some referbs in 22 and 25, but their higher calibers have been gone for a while. I might have bought a 30 last year when I got my 25 if they'd had one.
I like my rifle, short and pretty light, but it takes a while to get used to the 4lb trigger and be accurate. I hope the neighbor's kids have strong fingers, they'll need it.
-
It's awesome that he LOVED your gun right away and didn't feel the need to shop for a year. That's also trust in you.
Done Deal

Pyramyd has a .177 ( that I've been hitching to snag ) two .22s and now two .25s :)

Manny, is your buddy having it tuned by Will Piatt? I know that's one of your & my favorite recommendations.
My Rainstorm-I has a 1.5 lbs trigger pull after Will asked what I wanted it at.

the good thing is that I have a ton of parts to detune it for him and possible future fixes

Must be a really good buddy. I have a great air gun bud here in Portland too.

no, not yet but he was shooting my Winchester that is still stock but for it to be detuned to 35 FPE and likes it just like that,
I find the trigger fine just with the adjustments you can do.

I actually like the trigger just with some factory adjustment, he did too

He's a big time hunter here, with lots of connections :) :) ....not someone I hung with but known a long time.

VERY NICE, both of you 'bring something to the table.'
Couple days back I got really lucky and mentioned air guns to a customer I did some welding for and it 'turns' out (pun intended) he has a 3-axis mill. How handy is that?
You'll likely get onto some new properties?

Hope so, he has access to a ton of properties even on other islands to deer hunt :)

I’ve never tried it, but I heard that Axis are very yummy...
-
What's this about "getting" him to buy? Sounds like he was primed and just looking for someone to tell him it was "okay"! ;D
Good job Manny for adding him into the fold, and congrats! 8)

He came to my place 4 years ago and I got him to shoot my .30
He's been calling me periodically to see if I had a gun for sale, but his timing was always poor.
finally he just broke down and ordered one :) :)

If I get access to properties in Molokai, watch out !!!!! you gonna see some Axis threads :) :)
-
Turned him to the dark side you have ;D
-
Manny, this was a good enabling act of kindness! I think it was the right choice since you know Rainstorms like no other in and out so he has a PCP tech in you if a problem should arise.
-
Yeah that is my same though exactly, I got all kinds of parts here in case he needs it.
-
I may have asked you once before but don't remember, is there an easy way to lighten the trigger pull on a Rainstorm or are you using yours stock? Did you have Will work on the triggers for you?

I lighten the trigger by tweeking the 2nd stage screw, I find them perfect for me by just doing that.
I just got back a Rainstorm .30 from Will Piatt and the trigger is scary light, when I first pick that gun up I will shoot wnem I think I'm just leaning on the 2nd stage,
It takes me a bit to get used to it.

I know it's asking a lot, any chance you could post a picture, when I got my Rainstorm it had no manual from Pyramyd Air. I see two screws, a larger diameter socket head cap screw just in front of the blade, and a socket head set screw in front of that. Is it the set screw that adjusts the pull weight?
Never mind, found a pdf file on Pyramyd's web site

Cool, adjust the second stage until the gun don't cock, then turn it in until it cocks and it's safe to bump.

Especially being in the islands...not a whole lot of Airgun parts available quickly. You and your friend were on the same page.

Thanks Manny, I'll give that a try tomorrow when I get home from work, I try to keep the noise outside as much as possible, it also frightens the dogs, they go hide under my wife or on her lap. I worked on my Liberty when I got home today, found the air leak I was chasing, new seal kit coming from Captain O-ring, Had an air leak at the regulator. Had to submerge it in the bathtub to find it, but at least I know where it's coming from now.
