I picked up a couple maximums for my boys and I'm sure they will want optics on them.
I remember reading airguns were hard on rifle scopes but never had an issue as a kid with cheap bushnell 3x9x40 I had on my blue streak. Maybe it's just Springer's that are hard on optics? Will rifle scopes be fine on these cops.
I need something that will hold up to the boys, hold zero, and be repeatable ie 1/4 inch clicks are actually 1/4 every time in the right direction. I don't know what to expect on fps and trajectory yet to know if I will need turrets and to buy them some range finders. (I did see a combo deal on sig scopes and a 1400 range finder) I dont know anything about there scopes but my sig kilo 2200 sure is better than my Leopold ex 1000 and was much less expensive.
I like nicer glass example I have a 3.5x-10 vx3 on my 8 year olds cz scout .22 and its suppresed. ;)
That said I have spent way to much this year on farm expenses, vehicle's, and medical Bill's so if there is something that works 80% as well and is cheaper I'm all ears.

I have a 3-12x44 UTG on my Maximus. Looks to be 11 5/8" long with caps on. It is side AO. Rings I think are UTG and from the 11mm grip point to the bottom of the ring is 11/16" or 17mm (approx.) which sits the front bell about 3/16" off the barrel.
The UTG site is great for scope and ring dimensions. Check it out.

PCP airguns are not hard on scopes at all. Buy the cheapest one that has sufficient glass for your needs.

I have two of these scopes, and they are GREAT!! Clear, bright and fairly light. I just checked at Crosman and Walmart, they each have one in stock. With the AGNATION code at Crosman, they are about the same price with free shipping. I included links to both.

You will need one set of these per scope. Or a set of 3/8" 30mm rings per scope.

Ken,
I had the Center Point that came with the Maximus. Not bad and almost left it on. The reticle was plain as I recall which did not plat well with hold overs. Plus, it was front AO which became a pain pretty quick. Overall, not a bad scope for a package deal though.

Target and hunting/ shooting anything that presents itself. My boys are 8 and 10 and have free range of our 96 acre farm.
They hunt every from mice to deer. That are at 5 deer between the 2 of then so far this year. Would be more but my 10 year old is getting selective and let several walk this year.
My 8 year old shot his first Turkey this spring when he was 7 by himself I was at work. He stalked it and shot it in the head with a long bow at 15 yards.
They are quite impressive.
