Title: AA TX200 tuner
Post by: Brew52 on December 08, 2020, 01:25:18 PM
Hello all,  looking for a person to tune my TX200.  Would prefer someone in the Midwest but i could send it wherever.  Looking to detune a bit for a smoother shot.

Thanks,

You could try Motorhead - he lives in California.  John in PA is another option and a noted tuner.  A third option, of course, is doing it yourself.  You can get a drop in kit from Air Rifle Headquarters to take it down to 12 fpe, or possibly even less.  My TX is using one of their springs and measures 11.92 fpe at this point.  I have also replaced the original steel tophat with a Delrin version.  Good luck on your choice of options.

I'll second that about Air RIfle Headquarters. https://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/9004105.htm (https://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/9004105.htm) Choose the softer spring (0.125" wire) for a softer cocking/shot cycle.  Grab their forged bracket while you're at it. https://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/9167004.htm (https://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/9167004.htm)

Or if you simply don't want to learn how to tune your own rifle, Motorhead and John in PA both have a solid reputation here on the forum.

Thanks guys,  not a matter of not wanting to learn.  I have a eye issues that has robbed me of a lot of my vision so i just figured i could send it out and have it done then try and limp thru it myself.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I can understand that, have a bad retina in one eye and damaged optical nerve in the other.  Give Motorhead a call.  White Fang was a good tuner as well, but he passed away earlier this year.

Motorhead is one of very few people that I'd trust to work on my guns.

In fact I recently had him tune a gun for me, trigger work was exceptional. I didn't have the time to do it myself and he was able to do what I spent over an hour trying to do.

A full tx tune with a little barrel work is ideal. There is a tight spot in most tx barrels and a good lapping is recommended for smooth pellet travel!

Thanks for all the help.  I might get brave and try it myself,  just thought there might be someone qualified close to me who could do it.

Decided to just do it my self.  Have a TinBum kit on the way.  I will let everyone know how it works out.

I am using a Tinbum kit in my TX200. I am very happy with it. Tuned to 14.25 fpe. No twang, and the recoil is quite manageable. My TX shoots more accurately than my Benjamin Marauder, and almost shoots as well as my Air Arms S500.

Go easy on the Moy he supplies with the kit. Smear a little on the guide and top hat. A light coat on the spring will do it fine.
