Is the lead that is used in making the 40 grain LR any good for casting slugs or pellets? I'm talking about it being caught in a bullet trap.

i think being a powder burn round it may be a bit on the hard side. But if you were to mix it in pure lead. you may get it down to a more usable level.
Actually they have a BN hardness of 8 or so. so it isn't much harder that pure lead. @ 5-6 BN hardness. Can't hurt to try some an see. I know the h&n pellets are a bit harder than pure lead, and I have shot them quite accurately in my .25 gauntlet. specifically the hunter extremes.
