Title: Hatsan Piledriver .50
Post by: Back_Roads on November 02, 2020, 08:49:16 PM
My first 4 shots with the Piledriver were a success  8)
Tested with Mr. Hollow Point 345 gr. First shot was at the olive oil can, mind you these were sighting in the scope, first shot I thought was a clean miss, walked up to intended target, saw I took the cap off the top of it. So I held under to confirm dots to adjust to hit the POA. Clicked the scope then shot the 1 gallon can of garbanzo beans dead on.  8)  shot #4 I said wth lets shoot that empty pressure canister that I had previously been shooting at some time ago in 35 - 45 MPH cross winds with my M11 .25 from 50 yards, that only dented the canister.  :o 8) Some of that slug is rattling around in it and some squished out the backside.

Looking good. I have a Texan SS I added the CF tank to. I am getting around 465 Ft lbs. with 340 grain slugs. At 10 yards it hits about two times harder than a .22 LR round. On a empty 20 lbs propane tank at 35 yards it will do more damage than a .22 LR also. Propane tank was EMPTY WITH NO VALVE. I had it empty for over a week before it was shot at.

I was looking into a Texan also, but got a good deal on the Piledriver, less $ talks LOL, certainly a step up from 760s and 880s we grew up with.
Hoping to get out this weekend and get some crony numbers from 6 different weight slugs, so I  can make up some range cards.

I would definitely recommend getting a donnyfl emperor and adapter for the Piledriver, it makes mine indoor-friendly, instead of sounding like a 30-06. You may want to mic the end of your barrel before ordering the adapter.

How is 465 fpe only hitting twice as hard as .22 LR?  Aren't those more like 75-120 fpe?  maybe you mean in terms of penetration and the slow fat slug isn't punching holes the same?

I am talking about the size of the dent in the tank.

Fun fact not in the manual, if you ever need to degass it, do so with it cocked, otherwise you get a brown alert when the pressure in the tank gets low enough to have the hammer spring move the poppet. (goes BANG)
