Title: Florida Whitetail Night Depredation Hunt

Airforce Texan SS .308, shooting 98 grain NOEs at 900fps. The NOE cast bullet is a clone of the NSA 99 grainer .308. 75 yard shot, 60 yard run. The video is otherwise self-explanatory.

I enjoyed that video Travis and an excellent job indeed !!! Just curious if the deer in northern Florida are as small as what you'd find in say Highlands Hammock State Park.  That looked bigger than the small ones to me.

Wow nice shooting and even better analysis of the slug's travel and mushrooming after. Thank you for sharing.

Overall the north Florida deer will be larger than south-Florida deer, although some of it is an illusion. She probably didn't weigh more than 70lbs, but she was taller than what most does are around here. In general the deer around here just south of the Okefenokee are small and lanky. Deer from around where I come from in Marion and Levy counties can be shorter but weigh the same as these deer around here do.

When you get way out in the west Panhandle the deer are basically Alabama deer and they can be huge. I used to hunt around Marianna and I chased one buck I never saw in person that had a track the size of my hand from fingertip to end of palm where his dew paws sunk in.

I did, Florida hunting hours end at a half-hour past sunset. My permit lets me hunt on past dark for as late as I want. She wasn’t too terrible late past normal shooting hours.

Sweet.  Can you spot light them with your permit?

Yes, I can use a spotlight. Technically the IR illuminator on my scope is a spotlight for our night hunting laws.

Good video! What scope is that and how far does the IR light up critters well enough to take ethical shots on em?

Not only are you saving your berries but you're also potentially saving someone from having a collision on the road with them as they are very fond of running out in front of cars costing people a lot of money in damages and some their lives.

OK, this bugs me a bit,

we develop into their environment and then complain if we hit them with a car  ? ...we are the intruders !!!

Great video Travis,

When people say anything more need for a gun over a springer I go to firearms it makes me laugh

A good big bore airgun is no toy.

Its the ATN 4k Pro. 150 yards would be a good distance to cut it off IMO. Although its dependent entirely on the illuminator. I'm using an illuminator from a third party. I haven't actually tried the illuminator that came with the scope.

Friend of mine just got a ATN IR scope but his light isn't bright enough to see 150yds. What light would you recommend?

Streamlight Super Tac is what I use.
