I liked the Avenger .25 so much I decided to buy the Avenger .22 .... I have not bought a .22 for a very long time , I got hooked on the .25 for obvious reason's , but after watching Steve's AEAC video on how well the Avenger .22 shot just about everything ammo wise very well , I decided to get 1 so I ordered my second Avenger from Randy at RL airgun supply , Randy is a great guy to deal with , and he ships same day fast 4-5 days from CO to WA ... ;D ... if you are looking to buy the Avenger give Randy a call you will be glad you did .... ;)
I decided to run Steve's AEAC pro tune that he came up with 1800psi reg 2.75 turns out on the HS ...
I also decided to put the CP 4x16x40 that I bought from walmart on sale for 40 bucks... that same day they had CP 6x20x50 for 50 bucks ,so i bought both of them . I went around to other local walmarts , and they were not on sale at those places which I found kind of strange , maybe they were marked clearance on accident for those prices I don't know ???
So I started off shooting cheap crosman premier HP's ,and they didn't do to bad at 900fps hitting metal 1 inch spinners almost at will at 50 yards , then I tried H&N barracuda match 21.14 g ... they shot 840 fps with the same tune , and WOW ! were they ever accurate tearing a ragged hole out of a dime size circle at 50 yards , I am very impressed how well it shot those H&N's , and I will be testing a bunch more pellet type's tomorrow ... ;D
Another thing I noticed on this Avenger .22 was that all the pic rail screws were tight as was the barrel band , on my .25 Avenger those screws were all loose creating POI shift ... so they must be listening to us ,at least I hope they are any way .... so so far so good with around 200 shot's threw the gun working fantastic ... ;D
-
Dan, congratulations! Those Avengers are a lot of gun for the money! Enjoy shooting!

Thanks Randall ... you are right they are a lot of gun for the money ! .. ;D I figure i got about 750 bucks into 2 Avenger guns with scopes ! that shoot fantastic , usually that 750 would be for just 1 gun , and maybe a scope if I was lucky depending on the gun ... ;) I think the next thing to buy will be molds for pellets/ bullets for the .22 ,and .25 guns ... I like the pellets Wayne has been casting up ,and they seem to shoot fantastic out of his Avenger ... casting your own really cuts the cost down on ammo ...

Congrats on the new .22 Dan.
I just had my second .22 come in today from R&L lol,i liked the first so much.
The new one will be set up like Steve's Eco tune and left lightweight.
I added 2 pounds to the buttstock of my first one for bench shooting.
It was night time by the time i cleaned the barrel, degassed, scoped and adjusted but with a flashlight in front of the target at 40 yards got the scope dialed in with JSB 15.89s.
I got forty shots from 3.300-2.200 psi.
Reg is at 1.400 psi and half a turn in on HS.I'll chronograph it tommorow and likely give the HS another turn in,will see.
I hope you have as much fun with yours as i'm having with mine.
There will be some friendly competition between the two ,see which gun shoots better with different tunes.
-
Dan I'm willing to bet that the Hunter Magnums will work fantastic in that gun for sure, I've used them with my Liberty the last couple of hunts and they're phenomenal in it.

Wayne how easy is it to cast pellets ,with the pins and all?
I have been casting handgun and rifle bullets for over 35 years, but i wonder how hard is it to cast pellets instead?
Tanks,James.
-
James I use the pressure pour method casting with the nipple on my hooded ladle held directly into the sprue plate of the mold, then tilt both simultaneously back and forth. This method fills those tiny cavities great.
-
Gotcha Wayne,i'll have to get one soon winter is over six months long up here, would be nice to cast a whole bunch of pellets to feed all those hungry guns.
I made a miniature benchrest that sits on top of my kitchen counter and i'll be shooting out the kitchen window all winter.
I wanted to get the 17 grain pellet mold but it's no longer listed.
This one should do as well 217-20-RF-CE6 Hunter Pellet but it's sold out.I'll have to keep an eye on the website i guess.
Thank you for the reply.

That is how I test accuracy with all my airguns....shooting !" swinger at 35/50 yards....good post on your Avenger....I'm going after one soon....

Wayne I have casted a bunch of the .40 .45 slugs / round ball , but pellets I really don't know , are you saying you poor lead into the mold then press some pins in threw the sprue plate holes ? that make the tail of the pellet hollow ? I wonder if there is any video's on this ?
-
Dan the pins stay in the mold when you're casting, the different lengths are whichever weight you want from the mold. I prefer the longest pin on all my pellet molds.

Congratz on your second Avenger, Dan!

Thank you ! like you Charlie I couldn't resist ! .... ;D you know the Dark side say's it's futile to resist ! :o .... is a SAMROD next ? ::) :o ;D ;)

Hey Dan, I almost hate to say this to myself, but ... IF the SamRod turns out to be what I hope it is, I feel I may find myself shooting less and less those "other" airguns of mine, the ones where I still have to cycle through those pesky extra recocking motions for every shot...I know, I know, cries of "Blasphemy!" are resounding all around me already.
But this is mainly because lately I have been watching a lot of airgun hunting vids on Youtube, where you get to watch the actual POI on quarry through a camera scope, and where you see the scope sight picture as it waggles all over the place when the shooter recocks his gun for a follow up shot...wouldn't happen with a true semi-auto gun.

They come with all the NOE pellet molds.

LCS .30 semi auto / full auto when it gets out will be a beast of a gun.... the .25 is 70 fpe out of the box, the trigger is the only draw back , samrod has a nice adjustable trigger that's it's big advantage from what I can see over other semi auto's in that range ....

OK thanks Wayne , I am going to to get those molds like what you have , then slug mold's with sizing die's is the next order for the .22 ,and .25

There is much information in this gate about casting, there are some videos on the you tube about using NOE molds also, I will try and hunt some down.

Dang it sure is tempting to order one in .22 as well, I see a lot of you all doing it. I do know that being able to adjust everything externally at a whim is a breeze with the gun. The main thing for adjusting the regulator is to degas it first otherwise damage will occur. So far I haven't read any reports about part failures in these guns yet which is great news. I haven't been checking for parts availability for these guns, hopefully they'll have parts available in the near future ??? I was out in the woods again today with my Liberty shooting 23 grain NOE217-24-RF Meplat pellets. I only seen one black squirrel but was never able to get it in the cross hairs. I did zero my scope to 35 yards while I was out. At that distance it's pellet on top of pellet. In all honesty I doubt I'll start using a lighter pellet in it anymore because with a 4K fill this gun has a lot of shots.

I was going to shoot a bunch more today testing some different pellets , but I woke up sick this morning after I had a shingles vaccine shot that I have had a really bad reaction to ....with flue like symptoms , chill's ,aches - just over 100 temp upset stomach , doctor said its side effects from this vaccine , she said another day or so ,and I should be OK .... never thought this would happen over a vaccine ,but it did ... CRAZY ! .... ::) :-[
-
Yikes, take care Dan. It makes me wonder what the Covid vaccine side effects are gonna be... ::)

I hear you , I looked up side effects for the vaccine I had , and they match right up . i guess the only way for me to look at it .is that its not near as bad as shingles can be , My Dad had a really bad experience with it , he had nerve damage to 1 leg that seemed like it took well over 1 year to get things back to normal ... but like they say the cure cant be as bad as the disease ! ::) :o :( :(

Shingrix Vaccine?

Shingrix Vaccine?
Yes I believe so... I just looked it up , and that Shingrix is 2 shots 6 months apart , and that is what they have me doing ,this was the first shot , Oh boy I can't wait for the second shot ! NOT ! or - well it is a lot better than getting shingles I guess , but thats going to not BE so good getting the second shot knowing its going to make you sick ! ... Oh Boy what deal this 1 is , DANG ! :-[
this Shingrix i believe is a dead vaccine that takes 2 shots , .... there is also a live Vaccine 1 shot , but the doc told me there was even more chance of getting sick on that 1 .... ::) :P my left arm was where she shot me , and it didn't hurt right after the shot no big deal , but then I woke up at 330 AM and my whole arm hurt like H&LL ,and i was shivering so bad my teeth were rattling un controllable ,till I took 2 naproxen ,and it took effect .... ::) >:( YIKES !
-
I had the same bad side effects from the Shingrix Shingles vaccine both times. My wife had no side effects. I had no side effects from the Zostavax live vaccine but that one is supposed to be less effective than Shingrix. I've had Shingles (before the vaccines were available) and believe me, you don't want to get it.

I seem to being doing better this morning , and you are right you don't want to get shingles , my dad says his knee has no feeling in it from nerve damage from shingles , kinda crazy ! ::) .... hope fully later today I can get some more testing in on my .22 Avenger ... so far it's just like my .25 Avenger - No disappointments air gun of the year for sure for price ,and features ... ;D

My Geoffk Monocore Moderator / Suppressor Baffle from eBay is being delivered today. Will test it out on my .22 Avenger this weekend and report back. Hoping it suitably quiets the report as I don't consider the rifle quite backyard-friendly enough as it comes stock. Don't really want to add another 5-6 inches of length in a external moderator ifn I don't have to.

Good deal ...I was wondering how well those would work .

Installed it and took a shot in the backyard - some reduction in report but nowhere near what I was hoping for. In the process of sending Neil Clague an email to see if he can do something along the lines of a Donnyfl Tanto. Want something robust that can be easily installed/removed.
Anyone know what the shroud end thread size/pitch is on the .22 Avenger?
-
Donnyfl makes an adapter for the Avenger that has 1/2-20 threads. I have the Geoffk baffle in mine with the Donnyfl adapter and a short ldc. The hammer strike is much louder than the report. I also drilled a couple of small holes in the rear of the shroud with a piece of foam per Hajimoto's video instructions.

Link to Haj's video? I'm going to send the eBay baffle back for a refund and spend the $ on a high-quality removable moderator instead.

Yes David please let us know. I got one earlier for my Origin (same baffle fits both guns) but the included pump did not work so I had to return the whole pkg. (they were sold out at the time so no exchanging for another Origin) but meanwhile bought an Akela instead so I let the baffle go to another airgunner without Ever testing it, been curious ever since...

See my post a couple back - I'm sending it back for a refund.

I really don't have to worry about noise at all , but its interesting to see what works the best ...

Just ordered the LDC adapter for my liberty and it will also work on the Avenger as well. That way I can make them both quiet, just a matter of unscrewing the adapter from one to the other 8)

Is your Liberty a .22 or .25 & what LDC are you running?
-
David the Liberty is .22, the LDC is a Rocker 1 that's .25 and will work on both 22 & 25.
-
My ldc is also a Rocker1 that was originally made for the P-Rod. Here is a link to the Hajimoto video where he shows how to drill the shroud holes and make a foam diffuser. The video is for the Liberty but the Avenger is the same.

I went out and did some testing with these 16 g JSB's that I have a bunch of tins of that I bought a long time ago ... at 50 yards these were dead on ! ...this was 12 shots that are at that dime size circle next to the dime , not below or to the side , everything stayed in a half inch for 12 shots ... first 4-5 were about a hole threw hole .. pretty good in my book ,and as good as the H&N barracudas 21.14 g did ...
-
I forgot to put the FPS up on those 12 shots , it was 900-905 FPS ... VERY consistent .... with 1800 reg 2.75 turns HS out ...
-

I just now ordered one from David/Rocker1 for $65. He said overall length is 5.5 inches x 1 inch diameter. Ordered sized for .25 pellets so it can be used for either .22 or .25.

Those are awesome groups for 50yds! Am trying hard to get out this week with my chrony to see where it's at tune-wise and test what different pellets I have out to 50yds. Sorry for polluting your thread with LDC talk, etc.

No worries about the LDC talk , heck I might order 1 of those one's you bought , that is a very good price , I have a TKO that will work , I just need the adapter piece ... Honestly for the way this gun works ,and tunes for 300 bucks ! AMAZING !

Hey Dan I think my Avenger .22 is set at about the same settings as yours. Did you mean your HS is 2.75 turns *in* from where it's fully backed out? Or is it 2.75 turns *out* from where it's fully turned in?
I know, this sounds like a tongue twister joke but I'm serious! ;D

Dan I blew a TKO with my Prod and never found it until the snow melted but I was running a hot valve in it. The one that I'll be using is what David made for me, I've actually got two of them. The other one is on my Prod.

Sorry .... I meant turns in from backed out all the way ... so 2.75 turns in creating more hammer spring pressure ... 1800 psi reg ... its Steve's AEAC pro tune tune for accuracy 840fps to 900- ish 21g and lower pellets , so far both H&N barracuda 21.14 g , and the jsb 16 g have hole threw hole 3 shot or more same hole if you can shoot that good at 50 yards benched , I was really shocked at that 12 shots in a row group 3/8 -1/2 inch with first 4-5 shots tearing a single hole open after that I started laughing out loud ! and shooting the rest of those 12 shots maybe a little quicker than I should have , and I opened it up just a little bit ;) Man those barrels that are on these Avenger guns are just repeat dead accurate both .22 and .25 are barrels are dead on , its the Chinese streamline /dreamline ....

Wayne here is a TKO , he made this one a larger size ,and it works fantastic on the at44 long wood .25 that I have tuned at 900 fps for jsb 25.39 g ...

Anyone have an idea as to why I'm only getting about 3.5 turns either way with the HS Adjuster then it basically hits a wall and stops. Normal seems to be 5-5.5 turns of adjustment. I don't know what to do at this point as I don't want to try & force it and strip/break something. I've only shot a couple of mags thru so should I just shoot the heck out of it to see if the adjuster frees up?
-
Dan I got one from David that looks just like that one on your AT44 Long .25 he sent it to me without the carbon wrap on it but instead sent two different types of wrap sheets with it, I chose whats on yours, that LDC is unbelievably quiet on my Artemis M11 25 cal.

You could try to work it back and forth from all the way in or even all the way out , to see if it improves , or another thing you could test is to move the hammer spring all the way in most pressure .... up reg pressure to 2700 psi this would be a power tune so shoot 21 g or higher jsb heavy's 25.39 g , and see what fps you get out , Steve was getting 880's with jsb heavy with his power tune , so if you hit close to the same numbers he did you won't be lacking full power is my thinking ...

Dan I lucked out because David already had the tap and die for the right size threads where the cap on my M11 screwed on, I didn't specify on the length but he really did a great job on it. All you need to do is send Rocker1 a pm and tell him what you need, he'll fix ya right up, he's a good man and if you have problems he'll definitely help you get things resolved in a hurry.

All you need to do is send Rocker1 a pm and tell him what you need, he'll fix ya right up, he's a good man and if you have problems he'll definitely help you get things resolved in a hurry.
Ok thanks Wayne ...

Hey David, this may be too obvious already, but did you adjust while cocked? Uncocked would make the spring easier to turn. And even so, I also did have a rough graunchy spot I had to work through to get it to turn all the way.

Thank you so much for that suggestion, Charlie! I don't know whether or not it was cocked at the time but I tried again with it uncocked. I turned the HS all the way down then up - hit the wall again but carefully exerted a bit more pressure and broke through. Encountered another tight spot but made it to 5-1/2 turns/full power and back down. So happy I now have full range of power adjustment and don't have to deal with returning the rifle for warranty service!

That's good you got the Hammer spring adjuster to work all the way ....
I just ordered a .25 26g 4 cavity brass pellet mold NOE ... , I wanted to get a .22 mold also but it was not available in 4 cavity brass , so I will wait till they make more ...
I think I will get the .30 also , then I can think of buying a semi auto / full auto , you need cheaper ammo I think to run / shoot those guns ... ;)

I have a bunch of 28 g eun jin pellets I will try tomorrow with 2700 reg , and max hammer spring adjustment ,it will be interesting see how well the Avenger does with those heavy pellets ...

So much has change in the last few years. Just 2016 I got a mid priced pcp, and while it is nice, its very basic such as no regulator, etc. I even got the hand pump which in hind sight I should have gotten a compressor. Even those have come down within the last few years. I agree with most that the hand pumps are a chore. Its ok to pump at end of session but if you want to shoot more than 40 or so shots then it definitely would be a chore. Because its hard to shoot while worked up after the pump fills, it does get you sweating and breathing, plus its goofy looking if you do it at the range.

OK more test results .... I decided to adjust the Avenger to 2900 psi reg and maxed the hammer spring in , so we have maximum power ... gun was charged to 4000 psi ...I loaded up eun jin 28 g pellets sighted them in .....
FPS was 840
14 shots down to 3000 psi
50 yards 3 shot's touching each other a ragged hole ... :o ;D ... with 1 shot that silly me messed up on ... ::) human error :P
Man the question about - " what does this gun shoot good " .... is not the question ... its what does it not shoot good ! ;)
The .22 Avenger shoots those Eun Jin Korean .22 28 g pellets better than my Sumatra ,and better than the career MK3 does ... ;D
