Title: Best baffles for the .25 Hatsan Flashpup?
Post by: soarwitheagles on October 12, 2020, 05:52:15 PM
I read a number of threads and posts here and elsewhere where people are manufacturing and selling baffles for the .25 Hatsan Flashpup.

So far, I have found three versions:

One shot sells a version but I haven't seen any pics of it.

10-Stage Vented Baffle on Ebay:

Hatsan Quite Energy PCP Baffles Carbon Fiber:

My question: Can someone with personal experience tell us which is the best baffle for the .25 Hatsan Flashpup?

 ;D

Thanks,

Soar

PS Really strange, but I purchased a .25 Hatsan Flashpup in Dec. of 2018 and often shoot it on a daily basis, but just recently, removed the plug, took out the baffles and discovered on of the baffles was never even installed!  Dang!  Poor Q/C or what?

I've see that first 10 stage one around, some youtube vids on it. No real testing with data, but seems slightly quieter through typical shaky camera phone footage.

The second one... absolutely no need at all for it to be carbon fiber. None. If it clips the pellet will wreck carbon fiber as easily as PLA. PLA is cheaper filament and already weighs nothing, and is completely safe and sturdy in the barrel(unless a pellet hits it).And the claimed 20 to 30 decibel reduction? Don't think so. $47? sure, I have a 3d printer and parts take a long time to print. Time=money. But at that price I would definitely look away.

The stock one works pretty well, at least on the flashpup. In my humble opinion, buy once cry once. If you're going to moderate it, get a donny fl, huma, etc., it's already threaded for one. Remove the shroud, buy a rubber grommet from your local hardware store and put it on the barrel band, and that's the best you can get.

That "BEST" question again..!

Out of 50 people, you most likely get 25+...different..."best" answers.
Everyone has THEIR personal idea of what's best.  So now you're back in the same boat, which one to choose.

Better question, which baffle for the Hatsan Flashpup rifle do you like ?  Or...is quiet ?

Not the "ever loving best"...but tried adapting what was there (vbasically "free") first to see if it was quet enough.

MAde platic bushings (from a dead marks-a-lot type marker) for 3 holes (3rd one being the end cap) at about 7mm (.28").

Know there are folks here on-line that swear the size of the passages don't make a difference....except thy do when going from some big azz as-issued size (closer to 20mm. .40") to a small size (7mm/.28"),

Good enough for what I use it for...nothing is going to make it as quiet as a low powerd PCP.  Am sure there are aftermarket inserets/baffles that could make it a bit quieter....but stopped at quiet enough.

That is actually a simple, but very effective solution there.  I like it!  Like you, I found that quiet enough of some my older Hatsan guns, but they used aluminum baffles with caliber specific holes.  That was prior to the bean counters getting ahold of the QE manufacturing...  Of course, the best way to get the most silence out of Hatsan QE baffles is to throw them in the trash along with the shroud,  and get a good LDC.  The downside is you have to come up with a solution to keep things rigid, because that shroud plays an important part in the rigidity of the whole barrel setup.

I’ve been making QE inserts and Marauder inserts for off and on for little while now.

I have a new design revision you can try out if you’d like.

Shoot me a PM if you’re interested.

A youtuber brothers in air(I think he's around these parts) did a video on a barrel band mod with shroud removal. A grommet from the local hardware store worked for him. Here is the size:
3/4" O.D
7/16" I.D
1/4" thickness
1/16" groove width
9/16" groove diameter
For those who like to measure in ten billionths of the distance from the north pole to the equator instead of what they have at the bottom of their leg:
19mm O.D
11.1mm I.D
6.3mm thickness
1.5mm groove width
14.3mm groove diameter.
All credit to brothers in air, I do not have permission to post external links, but can be found on youtube.

I have been torture testing one of his prototypes in a 90 FPE Bull Boss for some time now, Hope you take him up on the offer on the revised edition.

Yes, I took Austin up on his offer for the baffle...waiting for it to arrive and will try it immediately and do lots of shooting with it too.

Thanks again Austin!  I am looking forward to giving a good report!
