Title: Turkey Lover's - Lets See All Your Turkish Made Air Guns...
Post by: gene_sc on September 11, 2011, 12:32:12 AM
These are growing more and more popular. I have learned a great deal since Dave Easly snookered me into tuning a couple  of his earlier Turkish made air guns. There is a complete history on Daisy Winchester Air Guns. Starting with the first version back in the late 90's. These are for the most part Hatson Mod 50,55,60,65,70,75 series springers. Lots of power and very accurate. IMO they are sleepers. Dave found this out early on and passed it on to me. I have one of the Hatsan second versions in .177 but it is a sweetheart to shoot and very accurate. And of course the new Retay Sport .22. Of course Daisy for a couple years had them made in Brazil and now all are made in China, but the Turkish made ones are the Gold.

So many of you may be sitting on some gold mines and don't even know it...:)

Lets see pictures of you Turkeys..:)

One went to DeZ and the other went up on CL. it was funny i posted about the rifles i just bought and DeZ PM'd me 2 min's later to buy one lol. ;D he really turned you to the turkey drunsticks!  ;D You ram'd the one i sold DeZ? The ones you did looks great!...cheers Bart

Not at home (no pics) but I have a Walther Falcon Hunter, Walther Talon (tuned) and recently purchased Webley Patriot and tuned from Rane Douglas all in .25 cal.  These are Hatsan mod 125's.  I have been trying to get a Hatsan 135 stock but cannot find one (it's wood).

If they have SAS or Quattro trigger the 135 stock will NOT fit..
( unless theres a new 135 with SAS / Quattro)

Oh well, there goes my hopes of collecting more. LOL
Bart, I haven't gotten the one I bought from you up on the bench yet. Still bone stock and looking like new. It's a v1. I'm putting the finishing touches on a camo v2 like Gene's that he DID make the gas adapters for. I'll round up all my beauties this week and take a group photo. I love these guns and will be going back through them now that I've learned a few trigger tricks. LOL
Stay tuned, more to follow.
Happy Shooting!!!!

The 2011 Hatsan catalog from the Hatsan site shows the 135 with SAS and Quattro trigger.  That is the only source I have for Hatsan and we all know the catalog is absolute truth.   Hahaha

Been selling old car parts and stuff I haven't used in a very long time for my hatsan jar.. today I sold some scrape metal and was able to add 45 bucks to my hatsan jar for a grand total of 63.75 towards a hatsan when they get here.. if they don't come to the states gene's black n red retay is really eye catching

The other day I was at my parents house shooting my rifle and my dad and my brother in law decided to join in the action. They go to the closet and pull out these two gems. A Turkish Winchester 800xx and a Turkish Daisy Powerline. I had no idea they had these!

Yeah it's awesome that they have these! And yes they are both .177s. I haven't shot the Daisy Powerline yet, but the Winchester is incredibly accurate! I was so surprised to see how accurate it was even with just the iron sights and some cheap crosman wadcutter pellets.

These are great guns both were marketed over here in the U.K, the wooden stocked one was sold as the Edgar Bros, 55s and [I think?] the synthetic was the Edgar Bros 70s.They don`t turn up second hand very often as people tend to buy them as a starter gun and don`t want to part with them.

What a nice find!

The Daisy and Winchester gun's were (are?) sold in the U.S. under those brand names, they were made in Turkey and shipped here in the Daisy or Winchester boxes ready for sale. Not sure that either is available as new any longer.

Winchester/Daisy guns have been made in a variety of countries. First that I know of was Germany. Then production was moved to Belgium. Then from 2001-2007 to Turkey and Hatsan. They produced 3 variants of these guns. After Hatsan, production was moved to China, where it remains today. We find them ever now and again on auction sites like GunBroker.com or GunsAmerica.com.
Few and far between though.

ezman: Germany? Ya know, those rifles do kinda look Haenel-like, bet it was their design originally?

Yep, Germany. From what I found out a few weeks ago, and another member posted here too, Diana made Winchester branded guns in the 60's-70's. They just added a 4-- in front of their models. Like a model 35 became a Winchester 435. I'm searching for one for my collection.

One of my favorite oddballs is my Hatsan Mod 100. It has a flip-up breach. It is a pretty decent underlever, but the loading does it for me. It is just so much more convenient to fully cock and then load without ever having to worry that you might beartrap your fingers. It looks like a Winchester 1000x as far a s the stock, so I'll probably be updating that. But it is only worth updating because I like the shooting cycle so much.

SAADE,

That is like the only other mention I have seen on these forums about Haenel. I just got a Haenel Suhl 312 target rifle. Very nice gun.

Hmmm. Maybe I can talk Retay into doing a target gun!

Richard

Another addition to my flock of Turkeys... Bought a Webley/Jaguar .22 from Paul a couple months back. The stock was olive green and not a purdy sight. Also have bought a few older Daisy's old Powerline and Winchesters on Gun Broker in the past couple months also. And of course these are made in Turkey for Daisy. 4 out of the 5 I bought were brand new and not used ones. Got really lucky on these purchases for a small fraction of what they would of cost originally new.

Anyways I decided to pull on down that had a bad stock. It was new but stock was weathered and faded black synthetic. Comparing the Jaguar and the Daisey models both made in Turkey I found a big difference in piston design as far as cocking travel. The Jaguar .22 was chronied prior to pulling it down, and the top fps was 597 out of about 20 shots. The Daisy Powerline .177 was pushing lead out at 900 fps in about 20 shots also.

I decided to use the Daisy powerplant and the .177 breech and barrel assembly. Also decided to convert it to a gas ram and I used the Crosman NP gas ram.

Since the stock on the Daisy was a mess I decided to use the Jauar stock. But I painted it with Rustolium textured paint. The preparation was pretty easy. I wet down a rag with acetone and wiped the stock down real good. In do this it etched the surface of the stock very well. With the application of paint it would adhere very well to the synthetic stock. I ended up with a two tone stock. Dark grey texture and black.

Final numbers were between 860 and 900 fps. I would assume after the seal breaks in after the tune it will be on the higher side of 800 fps. As I had hoped the gun is very docile and has a fantastic cocking and shooting cycle. I have to go back and make adjustments on trigger but as it stands now it is right at 4.5lbs before breaking.

This was a fun project and it came out great.

Oh by the way I made a shroud for ti but did not get a chance to paint it yet. I will paint it satin black. It is sporting a nice Bushnell 4-12-44 AO scope.

Here are a few pictures. They did not come out so good with my new camera. Will take a learning curve to get better ones...:)

Hatsan 85 .177cal
Hatsan 125 .177cal with Quest 1000 spring inside
Hatsan 125 .177cal (wishing for .22cal) with a nitrogen spring inside
Hatsan AT44W .177 Long LW
Hatsan AT44W .22 Long LW
Hatsan AT44W .25 Long

Love the PCPs for sure the springers are 'ok' with soft pivot bolts and too long LOP
PCPs are incredibly accurate rifles..... :)

This Winchester 850XS .22 made me a believer in Turkish guns.  It has a small nick in the bottom of the grip where the scope came loose during shipping. I ordered a 2nd gun because these where on clearance and I was going to return this one but, at this price I decided to keep this one and give the other to my son for Christmas. Took a lot of willpower to give up the 2nd one cause it looks as good or better than this one. He leaves it here anyhow so I don't miss it.  ;D  Wish I had bought a few more at 119.00!!

Oh ya the Daisy Winchester 850 XSU .22 is a perfect example of a great small game hunter with an exceptional wood stock to boot. And that is mentioning how dang accurate they are. Love mine and it took almost a year to find a good used one.

Yours looks just as good as the 2 we got.  Your numbers are blowing mine away. My 850 XS has not had maybe 50 pellets at the most through it but only gets 750ish with 14.3 CPHP's while my sons gets 770's. What did you do to yours?

I was checking my breech seal and noticed it sounded like the Piston/seal is dry when I cock it. Kinda like a dry seal being pulled through the compression chamber. I never have been in it because I can't get the center screw out of the bolt going through the forearm. You ever have trouble getting those out?

This is the perenial problem.
I have found that if you look at the screw head side, you will see a small phillips headed screw and behind that a "castle head" I have found that if you "tighten" that castle head a tiny amount, the small screw will undo easily. I use a small pin punch and a small hammer to tighten the "castle head" place the pin punch in a slot and tap clockwise, just a couple of light taps is all that is needed, dont hit it hard as you dont want to mark the metal.

I need a wood stock for my powerline 1000, you all make me so jealous. If anyone has one laying around, or the whole gun for that matter, I'll buy it. I can't stand my synthetic &^^& stock. I'm interested in a winchester 1000, a hatsan 55 or a powerline 1000ws stock or gun.
