Yogi’s a math teacher. Took me a minute to get it.
A D31 is what a D34P used to be called. I didn’t google deep enough. My fault.

Actually it is +3, but who is counting.... ::)
Difference is a unit of measure not a direction, + or - would be a direction.

Although mildly entertaining, I'm not even gonna comment on the above numerical arguments,..........
???
But for further clarification on variants of the D34:
I cannot speak of the Model 31 as I just don't know anything about them.
The 34P has a polymer stock.
The D34 is the basic 34 in a Beech stock, plastic butt pad (older versions had no plastic pad, but with lateral cross grooves on the butt end).
There is a D34 100 Jahre (1990) model with a Beech stock, 100 Jahre medalion inlayed on the right side of the stock, and WITH a rubber butt pad.
There is a D36, which is a D34, Beech stock, rubber butt pad, but no 100 Jahre medalion.
Then there is the model D38, which is a D34, Walnut stock and rubber butt pad.
Curiously, each of these models are stamped with their appropriate model number on the receiver tube, so if one is looking at a used rifle, be sure that it comes with the appropriate style of stock as they are interchangeable.
They all, however, have the exact same mechanics of a D34.
And we thought Weihrauch was bad with all their variants of the HW55!!
:D

I have the 34 Pro Compact panther. And it is marked as a "34". But if you look at the forestock, the end is angled (same as a 31) rather than rounded off like other panther stocks. So far that is the only difference i can see. Forestock styling.
