Title: Happy Fall Y'all
Post by: avator on September 09, 2020, 05:36:32 PM
Saw two separate businesses in our little town with the same window paintings today.... "Happy Fall Y'all".

Fall, Winter and Spring in lower Alabama are awesome for shooting.
You can actually breathe the air instead of chewing it.
The temps do manage to fall below C02 friendly but pumpers, PCP and thumpers are the hits of the times.
Reactive targets wear fur and feather and lead fills the air like rain drops.
Strings of light illuminate the path to the paintballs, spinners, beer cans and paper.
The sounds of schoolboy and schoolgirl giggles grow louder and louder as the groups get smaller and smaller.
Cheap guns shooting cheap pellets.... what could be better?

Happy Fall Y'all !!!

You wax nearly poetic at times, Bill.  That was nice.

Why thank you Thomas, those thoughts just came to me as I was daydreaming here at my desk at work.

In Ohio,... Fall is 100% my favorite time of year,.. followed by Spring. Summer can be oppressive. Winter is ok if you have a 4WD,.. when needed.

My wife picked up a wall hanging decoration that says just that, "Happy Fall Y`all". We live in northern Michigan where it was forty-seven all day yesterday. It must have appealed to her southern roots. Anyway it is here and I am waiting on a ten cord load of firewood for the first half of what follows. That does sort of temper the excitement.

It's 69° on my patio this morning.  Sitting in my blind, drinking coffee, waiting on another tree rat to appear.  Two in the tree, no make that one in the tree now, other one is DRT on ground.

Squirrels 0 / Parrus  1

Now the waiting game.  Almost chilly sitting on my cargo shorts and t-shirt.

CORRECTION:
NONE IN THE TREE AT THE PRESENT.  2 DEAD SQUIRRELS ON THE GROUND

Indeed, Fall Equinox is Sept 22. Then, nighttime really will start to be longer than the daytime.

Yes, the fall is probably the best weather in L.A.  Less yellow flies to deal with.    I miss Pensacola.

The nights and mornings is starting to feel like fall here, but the day time reminds you that its still summer.
I took the day off today and was working outside, and, Man, I was sweating buckets! Luckily, it was only about 80, but that humidity was like 90%!
The early morning started off great though, and I'd actually enjoyed a cup of joe by the fire pit.

Living in coastal South Carolina I've been shooting in oppressive heat and humidy. Shirt and even underwear soaked after a couple of hours on my backyard range. Cool temps and lower humidy will sure be appreciated and enjoyed.

It has been Fall for the past week or so, at my place.  Temps have been in the 50's to low 60's daytime and hovering around 29 to 32 at night with frost on the ground in the mornings, at times. The leaves are starting to turn colors and the first nighttime hard freeze is not far away. WINTER and SNOW is just right around the corner.  Winter will be here possibly by late October & for sure come November thru April.

Hunting Season for me, starts Sept 15th and runs thru the last day of February.
My rifles are all checked out....sighted in.... and ready to GO !

Happy Hunting Y'all & Best Wishes  - Tom

I remember years back when I raced jet ski's pro class ,and traveled like crazy , when we went to the east side of the USA  for 8 races about 2 months the heat with humidity added to it was insane at times  .. Huntington  West Virginia   was 1 of our stops on around the 4th of July... temp and humidity was over 100  ::) especially 1 year in 1993  , being from the west coast California at the time we never had the humidity that the east has ,and it was something to deal with for sure , I can remember racing on the Ohio river in Huntington ,and having sweat poring down my face ,and into my eyes making it hard to see  during the racing with my Arai pro helmet on  :o   pretty crazy !

This never happened on the west coast , we had heat but not that insane - humidity added to it , I was always so glad to get back to California back then ,after the east part of the racing tour was over .. ;D   ... it was like  a different planet back there compared to California with out  all those road tolls,  and humidity.... Now California is a over taxed regulated high cost mess  !  I would never go back  there   ::)  , I figured out that in Arizona with 2 places 1 in Pheonix ,the other in Show Low AZ you can live in temps from 68-90 very low humidity year round with around 330 days of sunshine ! ... my folks live there, and are doing just that ... so we are selling our house next spring ,and getting out of the rain soaked NW area  ... ;)

I cant wait for fall weather, summer weather here lasts for 4 months and rarely gets below 97. Majority of the time its over 105, with highest of 113, and record of 123.

A hour a way in Vegas is a little worse but its close to same. At least with colder weather you can put on layers. The heat not so much

The bonus is snow on the ground in town is RARE. It will fly 2-3 times, but will never last a day.

My wife picked up a Happy Fall Y'all wall plaque  this weekend and I had to explain to her why I laughed when I saw it.
Then she read this to me which someone had sent to her:

Fall appears to be waking up here in LA (Lower Alabama). Temps today in mid to upper 70's. Unfortunately, this is also a very busy time for the automotive stamping industry. This often results in 6 or 7 day work weeks. And it won't be long before 0dark:30 is around 5:00pm.
