When I started with airguns I was fascinated with a steroided blue streak. Being new I was reluctant to ask too many questions. Now I am at a part of my life that the Steroid question comes up again .
That said, is the 392 an advantage over a vintage streak for the conversion ?

Cost if you don't already have a vintage Sheridan. The 392 is still being made, but prices on vintage Sheridans have been going nuts with this pandemic. Not the best time to go hunting for a vintage Sheridan. Unless you get lucky, you can buy a new 392 for less.

Really the only thing to consider: Is it a shooter? If the 392 or 'Dan isn't accurate, then no sense in Steroiding it.
I don't think one rifle has an advantage over the other. I have a Steroided Blue Streak & a Steroided Racine 342. Both are shooters, meaning they're both accurate, both are little hammers. The only advantage I see is that the 342 shoots .22 ammo, which is easier to find & more variety than than .20 ammo.
