Title: aluminum flat bar from Home Depot fits Picatinny - Artemis PP700SA bi-pod
Post by: JohnnyPDX on August 02, 2020, 12:20:42 PM
1/8" x 3/4" aluminum flat bar standard stock at Home Depot fits picatinny female perfectly with slight modification

Just bevel the edge at 45 deg and it fits very securely into female picatinny. I just did it and mounted my Atlas (fake Atlas) onto my new Artemis PP700SA using the trigger guard as a mount point. It's quite stout and does not attach to the tank!!!

YES! I modded the gun, no big deal. There's already a hole in the bottom of the trigger guard so I just tapped it and made one hole and tapped it. There's lots of meat there for two screws.

Thank You! I normally would NOT drill a hole in a gun but this one was the exception...low initial purchase price and hate the alternatives for bi-pod mounting.. It turned out cleanish enough for this tinkerer.

Go ahead and steal the scope off the other airguns you mentioned for testing.

When your done, putting them back on and resighting in is just a good excuse for playng with the ones you've neglected.

You would get:
1. An idea of how it would shoot with a known-to-be-good scope.
2, An idea if the scope that is in transit  can do as well once it gets here.
3. YOur other airgun (that had the scope stolen from it) back to dead-on sight in.

Looks like 3 wins for just a little swaping.

Did it and not happy with what I saw so removed it.
2, An idea if the scope that is in transit  can do as well once it gets here.
Probably the same as above
3. YOur other airgun (that had the scope stolen from it) back to dead-on sight in.
Done

Two are in transit and I suspect the one GTA member Earl recommended will be just fine.

Hi Johnny,

I may be late to the party, but thought you might appreciate a source for blank picatinny rail:
https://alcobrametals.com/?s=picatinny

Available in different lengths; with, and without cross-slots; in 7075 and 6061.

That's cool AND actually reasonable. Consider how much of a PIT.A it would be to make that. My solution is only acceptable for mounting accessories and not scopes. Thank you for the link.

I just shot this 5-shot group and I'm delighted with it. 9 yards, rested front, scope at 12x

Pretty happy with the Artemis

i wouldn't place the calipers on the target until after you shoot.   looks like you hit them.   ;)

That's funny. I've had those calipers for nearly ten years and just last week broke the lens.

Geno,

I am sure one can get rail blanks from other places, such as ebay (link below).  It is just that I have bought extrusions from Alcobra a few times before, and their prices seemed reasonable.  Also, I had them cut a bunch of sections to specific lengths a while back.
