Title: Lefthand Breech / Bolts? Question
Post by: 0351_Vet on September 05, 2011, 04:14:49 PM
Is there a reason some people opt for a left-hand bolt even if they shoot with their right hand?
I have seen a few pics with LH bolts being shot by right hand shooters. Just curious. Thanks

On a pistol it means you do not have to move your firing hand to load.

I'm right handed and I went for a left handed cothran breach on my second crosman pistol build (a 2240)... on a pistol, a left handed breech is easier/more-natural to manipulate for me as my right hand never leaves the grip.

On my 1377, which is setup as a carbine with a wire stock, I prefer the right hand breech, but if I remove the wire stock to shoot it as a pistol, the right side breech feels clumsy to me.

I just saw a pic of a 1377 with a left handed breech and that was my first thought, much easier to cock.

Thanks guys....Makes sense to me now. I may do that if I build a 1377 carbine.
