Title: The start of the addiction.
Post by: lwhaples on July 25, 2020, 01:32:40 PM
Started my Journey with a Gamo Hunter 220.Found this Forum and after reading and reading,I decided I wanted a Sheridan Blue Streak. Well a 1956\58 as it was advertised came yesterday. Today I went to a Flea market and found a Crossman 180. Funny,I never had a pellet gun as a kid.Would think going to an Air Show would be a lot of fun.

Wow.  Congrats!

My first pellet gun was a Crosman 180 that I traded off a friend.  I wish I still had it...

Stay safe,

J~

Thanks! Looks like the 180 will need a rebuild kit.

Wow, two vintage guns in two days... OUTSTANDING!
Rebuild kits for the 180 are plentiful. Get one from a reputable vendor like Precision Pellet or Baker.
Welcome to the addiction!

The Crosman 180 was the first  gun  I resealed.  Pretty simple and easy to work on.  They are excellent shooters. I have two 180s, a 187 and a Sears JC Higgins variant.  Resealed and sold three or four.  Converted a couple to double cartridge guns with old model 400 tubes.  One is modded for bulk fill.  One of Crosman's better designs, in my opinion.

What number of rifles does it take to become an obsession? Lol

Must say after reading up on the 180,feel lucky to have found one. Sure looks like it will be cool to play with. Do like the feel of the Sheridan though.

Yes, hard to compare anything to a 'Streak, you started at what most consider the top.
Now, keep an eye out for a nice 160 or a Benji 342...
Couple of my favorites.   ;)

Two excellent vintage American rifles there.

I shoot my 180 and my blue streak often, nothing could ever displace my blue streak, but I also don't think anything will ever displace the 180 either.

Yes, I highly recommend attending an airgun show. its a great opportunity to see, handle and even shoot airguns that you might not otherwise be able too.
A lot of them have been cancelled this year of course. I'm hoping the Hickory, NC airgun show will be on again this year; its in my area. I picked up a vintage Diana 35 there last year and got the opportunity to shoot a Diana taploader (can't remember the model #). I wanted to buy one of the taploaders but he only had them to show; they weren't for sale.

Well, I've looked but didn't see any shows that are close to me in VT. Did find that the local gun store has 20 cal. pellets in stock.

Nice collection, TerryM. Are those two skinny scopes old Weavers? I have a couple. I noticed three of your guns have both scope rings forward of the turrets. I have a couple of guns et up like that.
