Dear Readers:
After I did the shakedown run on all of my rifles, I put most of my rifles away in my gun safe. For info on the shakedown Run see this post.
> https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=176090.0 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=176090.0)
I kept out the 22 cal. NP2 Crosman Summit Ranger, the 117 cal Umarex Multi-Pump and the Hatsan 177 cal Vortex Striker, for any chippers that show up today.
So Today..... at 11:30 am CST, I shot another Chipper with the Summit Ranger shooting 22 cal Crosman 14.3gr. Destroyer Hunting pellets at 35 yards. It was sitting on a tree stump, between my two woodpiles. That stump measures exactly 35 yards from my shooting position at the backdoor of my garage.
I have put a few sunflower seeds on that stump now, to keep the Chippers stationary long enough for me to be able to throw up a rifle and take a stationary shot. I prefer a stationary shot as opposed to a moving shot but sometimes a running shot is all I get.
I shot this one right behind the ear for the killing shot.
I shoot from a sitting location on a three legged camp stool. I employ a semi-offhand shot technique with my for-stock hand braced on the upright door jamb and the rifle resting in the Vee between my thumb and fingers of the foreshock hand.
The day has been overcast but no rain. The temp is 65F with a 8 mph north west breeze. The humidity is 82% The elevation is 886 ft above sea level. The mosquitoes are real bad but manageable, provided that I don't sit there for hours at a time.
I have posted pictures of the shooting position that I have been using on the Chippers and how I rest my rifles for each shot.
This will be an ongoing saga and I will employ the six rifles I have at various times. Stay tuned for more postings on the chipper plague that I am experiencing this year.

Nice shooting.
Based off another members post I purchased a WiFi door bell and now have it out in the yard where the gs come under my fence. Now I get alerts when there is movement.

Hi C.J.
Thank you for your reply.
I don't have a door bell alarm but I do pay attention to what the birds are doing.
If the birds are active then the Chippers are too.
No birds = no Chippers.

Hi Buddy !
Thank you for your reply and kind complement.
Fun you say...I have been Working Hard at getting those Chippers ! ;D (kinda.. pretend.. working). I also tagged a second Chipper today. ;)

(I do know about real work though. I started working full time on my dad's farm at age 10 and retired at age 66.
I worked a full time job, of one kind or another, for 56 years and 2 full time jobs for 20 of those years.)

You're setting quite a streak Tom! I'm signing on here to see how it comes out.

Oh wait....I snagged a second Chipper today... Just sweltering and sitting on that stool. ;)
I also got about 50 Skeeters too.

(The weather around here can change 30 degrees in a few hours. This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it will be in the mid 90's with high humidity. If the jet stream is below us we get air from Canada and if the jet stream is above us we get Southern Texas air from the Gulf of Mexico. September around here can really get crazy. 85 F one day and 40 F the next day. Canadian air is less humid and the Texas air is very humid. Then Winter hits and the temps can drop to below zero and there is no humidity because all the water is frozen for 6 months.)

I snagged a second Chipper today and I will be posting it soon. Stand by for Chipper # 2

Tom,
You have grass??? I thought you always had 3-4' of snow. ;D
Nice shooting Tom. Love that Summit Ranger. Got mine last year after reading your review of the gun. Thank you for that.
You're shooting running running rodents with a breakbarrel pretty much offhand? I need more trigger time. That is amazing.

Well Hi Ray ! Thank you for dropping in, your reply and generous complement.
Say how is the B-3 coming along ?. Have you got it all rebuilt and up to snuff ?
I am glad that you like your Summit Ranger...I sure like mine. It's a good one for hunting. Tough as nails too.
I have always been able to shoot running targets..just a natural knack I guess.
I could do the same thing with a Recurve Bow. It is all in the lead, the arrow release, trigger pull and the timing.
The same thing goes with shooting with a shotgun. I was a pretty good wing shooter on Ruffed Grouse.
I managed to hit another Chipper today. I'll be posting about it real soon.

Well I managed to hit another Chipper today. I harvested it later on this afternoon sometime after I got the one with the Summit Ranger.
I go out into the garage doorway and sit a spell until the skeeters drive me away. Sometimes longer and sometimes less. I am usually there for a hour or so, that is, provided I don't have something else to do.
I watch and see if any birds are out and about. If the birds are out foraging then the Chippers will be foraging too. This method works most every time for me and I am not putting up with the skeeters and not seeing any chippers.
Contrary to what I I have just stated I decided to go out and see if any chippers were out moving around. OK...there were No Birds and there were NO Chippers either. There were... Plenty of the Skeeters and I slap-killed several. So anyway I decided to pack it up and leave. I normally discharge my rifles when I call it quits so I fired the Hatsan Striker then started to discharge the Summit Ranger. I had spotted a new burrow hole out in my compost pile where I put the Fall leaves. I marked the new hole with a 7/16 wood dowel for a quick reference point in-order to keep my eyes pealed to that area quickly. To to discharge the summit ranger I decided to take a pot shot at that dowel.
The new Chipper hole is about 36 or 37 yards out and around 30 yards to the right of my wood pile. It is around 40 degrees right from the wood piles and is a move from the left door jam to the right door jam. So I brace my shot on the right door jam and fire away. I made the shot and hit the dowel. The vibration from the impact must have roused the Chipper because it popped out of that hole and stared at the dowel. I quickly grabbed the last loaded rifle...the little Umarex Pumper and let fly an off-hand shot. I hit the chipper dead center in the back of its head and dropped it right there. Early on today, I had re-sighted the Umarex in with 117 cal RWS 6.9 gr Super-H-Point hunting pellets. They don't provide as much penetration as the 7.2 Daisy Pointed pellets but they are slightly more accurate and mushroom better.
When I shoot totally off-hand, I have my own method for that type of shot. I rase the rifle and align the cross hairs of the scope all in one motion. As soon as I see the target in the scope I begin the trigger squeeze so that when the cross hairs reach the point of aim, the gun is discharging a pellet. That way I don't have the issue of the cross hairs weaving around before the rifle is fired. It is all a delicate matter of timing the shot just as the cross hairs arrive at the point of aim. It works for me with all my rifles.
Anyway... "at the end of the day".... I got lucky again and managed to get another Chipper. ;)
Here are the pictures of the pesting shot and a picture of the wooden dowel that I shot with the Summit Ranger.

Tom, great shooting on both of those lil chippers! Tough shots semi offhanded on tiny lil targets! Seems like we’re both a tad busy with our pesting duties!
-
I went out and counted the Chipper burrows and holes today. It has rained hard the last couple of days. I think any unused burrows got washed out in the heavy rain & thunderstorms. I started shooting Chippers sometime ago..early last spring actually. I have always had problems with the Chipmunks but this year there have been many more. Two years ago I had to replace a fairly new A.C. for the house because of Chipper Damage in the electrical compartment where they nested. My Wife JoAnne loves to Garden and the Chippers have wrecked havoc in some areas of her gardens and some areas have had to be re-done. I counted thirteen "still existing holes" around the house today.
The pictures will show many of the areas where I have had trouble with Chippers. I had 40 or 50 burrows at one time this year but those chippers have been eliminated in one fashion or another. Anything in or around the house or in my wife's gardens gets a special rodent poison mixture combined with peanut butter and placed in a rodent only container. I have also put out rodent repelling compounds around the house and in JoAnne's gardens. I have no idea of actually how many Chippers I have shot this year but it is a whole lot more than I have posted. How many were eliminated by the poison is another unknown number. I only started counting the ones I am shooting with my last two Hunting Posts.

Hi Randall !
Thank you for a great reply.
Yup...we are both busy controlling the Rodents lately.
I normally don't post pesting activities (Only Hunting in the Woods) but this year has been extreme.

I think they picked the wrong yard though :o.

Yup they sure are trying to take over the place this year. :o
Early on, I gave them fair warning and tried a sign ..."Deadly Force Employed- No Chipper Trespassing " ;D
I just don't think they can read English very well. :-\

Hi Wayne !
Thank You for your reply & complement.
I clean the Chippers out every year but there is always more the next year.
I usually get a dozen or so each year... but this year... there has been..... way... more.
I used to feed the birds but I stopped doing that because it tends to attract the Chippers and Field Mice.
Now-a-days I only feed the birds during deep winter months (November thru March) when it is cold & there is a lot of snow on the ground.
They are coming from the woods out back of my place. There is 160 acres of privately owned woodland back there.
One of these days, the Lutheran church that owns that land will sell it and there will be houses back there.
That seems to be what is happening around here, over the past 10 years or so.
When I first moved here, 40 years ago, it was all farms & woodlots around me. Ever so gradually, there has been houses going up.
I have been thinking of relocating to a more remote area (because of that) ..but then I think about winter.
It is better to be closer to town when winter comes and the snow is deep.

OK... it is 6:15 am CDT.......the 22 cal. Summit Ranger, the 22 cal. Hatsan Edge & the 117 cal. Umarex Pumper are loaded up and ready to go. The pellets that I will be shooting today are 22 cal. Crosman 14.3 gr. Destroyer Hunting Pellets and 117 cal RWS 6.9 gr. Super-H-Point Hunting Pellets. The rifles are sighted-in at 30 yards. The three legged stool is out and in position. The bottle of Muskol bug spray is out in in position too.
Time to go to "WORK" ;)

Hey Tom,
The B-3 is torn down, need some parts - primarily the guide which is plastic and was in many pieces, figured I would throw a spring and seals in it while I am at it. Has been on the back burner for a while but I will get back to it shortly. Apparently everything I need is available from Crosman. I just need to get them ordered.
Thanks

Hi superchikn !
Thank you for the update on the B-3. I am so very happy that you have it now Ray.
I will be real interested is seeing how it performs for you, once you are able to get it up an running.
"The Back Burner" That was my problem...I never got around to doing anything with the B-3 in the years that I had it.
That rifle & a snowblower were given to me by a friend, who I helped move, many years ago.
I was always thinking that I would get around to doing something with it... but I never did.

OK....3 shots fired this morning on the Chippers I Missed One.... Hit Two..... Retrieved One of The Two That I Hit.
Chipper #1
On the first Chipper "I flat out missed the shot"
It was on the fence rail that runs behind the wood pile right by the last fence post.
I took this shot at around 6:45 am CDT. The distance was around 39 yards.
It was a little foggy out.
I had to thread the shot under the spare fence rails that run from the fence line to the log pile.
I was shooting the 22 cal Crosman Summit Ranger.
No excuses here...I Missed That Shot.
Chipper #2
I shot and retrieved this one.
I shot this one at a around 7:30 am CDT. The fog had cleared by then.
I shot this one at a distance of about 20 yards.
It was on the fence line between my ladder and my bird feeder.
I shot this one with the Umarex Pumper.
Chipper #3
I shot this one but did not retrieve it.
(I know that I hit it, I heard the meat slap of the pellet hitting the Chipper)
I shot this one at about 8:20 am CDT.
This one popped up out of a brand new Chipper hole.
I shot it with the Umarex pumper and it went back down the hole.
The distance was around 18 yards.
I found 5 Brand New Chipper holes this morning out on my Split Rail fence line. These were like "Last Night New" because I was out there yesterday taking pictures of the Chipper Burrow Holes and they were not there then.
I marked two of the holes for quick reference. One of the new holes was by my ladder so I did not need to mark that one.
The other two were in close proximity to prominent natural markers.
If I shoot a Chipper on the split rail fence line.... and it makes it into the Woods on the other side of my fence line... I will consider them lost.
I am Not going into the Poison Ivy in there to get them. Been There ...Done That Before....Not Good.
Here are the pictures of this morning's Chipper and the "NEW Chipper Burrow Holes"

Good Kill Sir!
I got a Chipper yesterday, it was standing on a log, and I shot it from a standing position while stationary. I used my Diana's iron sights and got in the mid-section.
Placed an order for a Flashpup with a scope, as I want to leave the Diana the way it is.

-
Good luck today Tom. I am re-appraising that little Umarex pumper in light of your experience. Might have to get me one to compare to the 2100.
Hi Carter !
I had both the Umarex and a 2100 at one time myself.
The 2100 much harder to load, harder to pump and louder. The 2100 was a little more accurate and it had more power & range.
I decided to downsize so I sold the 2100 along with a 1377 pistol and kept the Umarex because it was the one that my grandson liked and he could pump it. My grandson has now moved to South Carolina so he does not shoot it anymore.
The Umarex is more like a 20 yard gun. Mine is Real Quiet....almost but not quite.. Moderator Quiet
Be advised...The trigger & safety on the Umarex.. "really not worthy"... I fixed this one. Now it is real smooth.
I like the loading port on the Umarex. It is a top loader that has a low side and a high side. I just roll the pellet up to the high side and it is ready to load into the barrel. I also like the plastic picatinny scope rail but many people don't.
I think that the Winchester/Daisy 1977XS might be a better choice. Either that one or a Daisy 880.
I have never shot either one of these Daisy rifles to actually make a good comparison though.
The Winchester/Daisy 1977XS is about the same price as the Umarex and the 880 can be had much cheaper, usually.
They both have the same style pump arm as the Umarex. I don't know if they would be as quiet.
Be Advised.....All these Rifles are ..."Plastic Fantastic Type Rifles"

Thank you so much for your reply, your kind words and your personal complement to me.
Yes...indeed it does, take a while to make these shots with a springer.
That's where the challenge comes in and the sense of accomplishment.
I am very happy that I have been of some assistance to you, in your endeavor to master shooting a springer.

OK..here is the rundown on this afternoon's pesting from 2pm CDT to around 4:30pm CDT.
I shot 3 more Chippers.
One with the 22 cal Summit Ranger.
One with the 22 cal Hatsan Vortex Edge.
One with the 177 cal Umarex Multi-pump.
All the shots were on my split rail fence line.
The ranges varied between 18 to 25 yards.
All were one shot kills.
The chippers were all on the top rail of the fence or on a fence post.
The furthest shot was with the Summit Ranger at around 25 yards.
I shot this one square in the upper back.
The pellet exited out the front chest.
It was sitting on a fence post by my ladder looking away from me.
I shot the next Chipper with the 22 cal Hatsan Edge.
I shot it in the in the ear and the pellet exited out the neck on the opposite side.
I shot that one on top of the upper most rail at around 20 yards.
I shot the last Chipper with the 117 cal Umarex.
It was on the top rail at 18 yards.
I hit the Chipper in the head just above the eye.
The impact bulged out the eye some and there was no pellet exit.
5 Chippers shot today.
4 Chippers retrieved.
1 Missed shot.
That was it for today's posting activities.
Best wishes to All - Tom

Hi Buddy !
Thank you for your reply & complement.
Your So Right ! I've never seen anything like this before.
It used to be, that I got a couple dozen or so, over the course of a spring, summer and fall.
This year, they just keep coming and coming and coming.
Heck..I just started posting about them this week and you can see how many I have got, in just these few days.
The reality of it is....I have been wacking them since May.
I even have got rodent poison out in places, in rodent only containers. They are Eating it too !
I also have got chemical rodent repellant out...Lots of it in special containers.
Early on this spring, my neighbor loaned me some ultra-sonic rodent repellers, that he swore by as fool proof.
They did not seem to work effectively on "these Chippers", so I gave them back to him in June.
I was not sitting out there ...All Day today. Just think about the ones that I didn't see.

I got out and set up at 7:15 am CDT this morning which was a little on the late side. It would have been much better if I had gotten up at 5 am CDT. I spend up the garage door leading to my backyard and there was a Chipper out by the wood piles. By the time I brought the guns ut and got them loaded up, it had seen my frantic movements, made my position and took off. So that was that. I sat out there by the door until 9 am CDT then came back in the house. The weather is going to be on the warm side today and that garage will turn into a hot box at mid day. It was already getting warm and humid in the garage this morning when I got there. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it was around 62 F and barley broke 70F for the whole day and today it is likely to reach the mid 90's F. I have some things to do today but I will try again later. I am not to sure anything will be moving about today, we have a dropping barometric pressure and big thunderstorms are on the way later on this afternoon.

Tom, you are obviously experiencing one of those periodic population surges that occur amongst rodents. It's just in my nature to wonder why? A warm winter? Abundant food? It's hard to say but you are doing the right thing by controlling their numbers. Over population by rodents leads to some nasty side effects as you know.

Good Kill Sir!
I got a Chipper yesterday, it was standing on a log, and I shot it from a standing position while stationary. I used my Diana's iron sights and got in the mid-section.
Placed an order for a Flashpup with a scope, as I want to leave the Diana the way it is.
Hi SUPREET !
Thank you for your reply... and.... good kill on that Chipper.. for you too.
Congratulations on your order of the new Hatsan Flashpup !
What caliber did you order ? Let us know how you like it when it arrives.
I agree with you....I would leave the Diana the way it is... myself.
Best Wishes - Tom
Thank you Sir, I ordered the Flashpup in a .177 from PA. I can't legally use a .22 in my backyard in Illinois, plus for the size of my yard the .22 would be overkill. Btw the Havahart traps work wonders, except this morning I had a skunk in the trap, that wasn't fun.
Happy Hunting!

Hi Carter !
We hand a normal winter last year but we also had an early spring thaw. Maybe that's it, I don't know.
I stopped feeding birds during warmer months and I may not feed them this winter.
Thank you for your reply and insight.
Not much moving around today. Maybe my efforts art starting to take effect.

Hi there SUPREET.
Thank you for your input & suggestion.
There are skunks around here too. I would need a trap that they can't get into.
I had made a "do it your self" Bucket Trap but they would not use it.
I had it out for two weeks, with out getting anything.
I'll look into other traps.

Not much moving around today. I managed to shoot a Chipper at around 1pm CDT.
I was shooting the 22 cal Summit Ranger loaded with Crosman Destroyers.
I saw it scurrying across the horizontal split rails on the log pile.
I lost sight of it for a while then I saw it peaking out at me over the top rail.
I could not see all of its body but I could see all of its head and a small portion of the chest area.
I shot it in thru ear and head. The impact of the Destroyer pushed the ear into the head.
The range was 35 yards.
Maybe I'll get more later.
The garage is sure a hot box today.

2:30 pm CST - I just tagged another Chipper on the ground, out by the 35 yard wood piles.
After the shot, I had to help my wife bring in some groceries. By the time I got out there I couldn't find it.
Very Strange, usually if I shoot them with the Hatsans or the Summit Ranger, they just pile up right there.
I heard the pellet impact and saw it go down.
It must have been able to crawl into the wood piles or something.
I am not going to tear them all apart to find it.
It is what it is.
NO PICTURES ...I Couldn't find it.

UP DATE 3:30 pm CST
I just tagged another Chipper that was between the 35 yard wood piles, by the stump.
This time I made real sure that ..THIS One... was not going any where.
The Destroyer Hunting Pellet entered the center forehead and exited out the rump.
PICTURES this time.

High James !
Thank you for your reply.
That gun was unloaded in the picture...as it had just been fired.
Gee Whiz...There must be something wrong with that Chippers thinking to go for an unloaded rifle.
Do you think it could be "lead poisoning" in its brain ?
I have heard that "lead poisoning" will cause brain damage.
Xin Loi Mr Chipper.

Hi Randall.
Thank you for your reply and complement.
It could be, that something... did grab that chipper ...but I don't know for sure.
I have a Red Fox and 2 Gray Foxes in the area.
I also have a few Weasels, Skunks, Opossums and Raccoons in the area. Quite rarely, I have seen a Bobcat.
Most likely it crawled into cover of some kind and the closest cover was those two wood piles out there.
The strange part is, I heard the pop of the pellet impact on flesh and I saw it drop and sprawl out motionless on the ground.
Destroyer pellets are really devastating when they hit something and they do a lot of damage.
They get good expansion and give good penetration both.
A 117 cal destroyer will expand to almost 22 cal and a 22 cal Destroyer will expand to close to 25 cal.
The problem with Destroyers is that most guns are not very accurate with them but the 22 cal Summit Ranger is.
So is the 117 cal Striker and the 22 cal Edge.
That gives me 3 rifles that shoot them like laser beams.

I setup at 5:30 am CDT this morning. Everything is quite still outside. No birds - no Chippers - no nothing ...Yet.

OK..here is this morning's early run down.
I started hearing chippers and the birds started showing up at around 7:45 am CDT.
The sky was starting to cloud up some and I think rain may be on the way, later on.
I was able to shoot a Chipper at around 8:10.
After a while, everything went dead again, so I came in to clean my bi-focal glasses.
I shot the Chipper with the 22 cal Hatsan Edge at a distance of about 34 yards.
I was shooting 22 cal Crosman 14.3 gr Destroyer Hunting pellets.
The pellet struck the Chipper in the forehead and exited out the side of the lower neck.
It was scurrying back and forth in front of the Log pile with the blue tarp on it.
I whistled and it stopped and looked in my direction.
That afforded me a slightly crossways shot the the head area.
I threw up the rifle and braced the shot on the left door jam, on the back walkout door of my garage, then I squeezed of the shot
Sweet Success ...another one down ! ;)

OK...I blasted another Chipper at a little before 10 am CDT.
It was out in front of the 35 yard tree stump, that is located between my 2 Log piles.
It was a frontal quartering shot to the left eye and the pellet exited out the opposing side of it's head, below the ear.
I was shooting the 22 cal Crosman Summit Ranger loaded with Crosman Destroyers.
It came in to the Log piles from the North West. I could hear it chirping up a storm, for 10 minutes, on the way in.
It came up over the stump and stopped. I threw up the rifle and squeezed of the shot.
Number 2 chipper is down this morning ! ;)

Great shooting on all those chippers since my last post, I didn't get one today and only seen a few today.

Gee Wayne, I'm sorry you didn't get one today but there will be more to come in the state land that you hunt in.
That area looks like a ..PERFECT.... Chipper, Red Squirrel, Gray Squirrel and Fox Squirrel territory to me.
Just the right amount of the right kind of trees and not too much ground cover.
Enough deadfalls to provide something to sit on too.
I'll be standing by for your next Hunt and Video.
Until then....Happy Hunting !

Well....I got the two Chippers this morning and that was it for the day.
I spent the afternoon bee-bop-ing around with my wife and did not get home until around 5 pm CDT.
After we got back, I went out to fertilize some of my wife's gardens and I had a Chipper pop out of the fence line at about 7 yards.
It would have been an easy shot with the umarex, but all I had in my hand at the time was the water hose, all hooked up with the fertilizer attachment.
I tried my hand at drowning it with the water hose... but.....That Didn't Work.
Although ..it did a good dose of "Miracle-Grow".
It will probably be a lot bigger the next time I see it.
It started raining around 6:30 and I packed it in for the day.
I got church tomorrow and I am not sure if I'll be doing any shooting afterwards.
Maybe so and maybe not.

Better watch that miracle grow... you’ll have chippers the size of ghogs running around.
You may have to bring out the 125 for that? :o

Hi Buddy ! You Just May Be RIGHT !
Thank You for your reply.
Say Buddy.....I just read your post in "What Did You Shoot Today" and I have a question for you.
How does your Winchester 1977 stack up against your 880 ? What are your Pros and Cons about those two.
When this Umarex, that I have, goes "Kaput"....
If and when it does, then I am thinking about replacing it with a Winchester 1977 or an 880.
Is the Winchester better than an 880 ?
What are your ideas?

all of them benched at 20 yds., then some semi rested off hand shooting with each of them.

Tom,
The “new” Winchester 1977xs is rated at 1000FPS. and gets 800 FPS. on 10 pumps with 7.4 and 7.9 gr. pellets.
6 pumps is about 700 FPS. with the same pellets, so it matches the 880 at 6 pumps and the 397 at 10 pumps.
Mine has been super accurate with daisy flat nose pellets” made in Spain”.
It has a flat head piston and a coil steel spring instead of the old elastomer sprung of the 880.
If there’s a con side to it, it would be the pump assembly actually slides on square nylon wheels instead of the round ones like the 880, so pumping effort is between the 880 and the 397.
The trigger is a bit harder than the 880, but smooths out with use. I think it has a stiffer trigger spring than the 880.
The stiff pumping smooths out a bit with use, but it will never equal the smooth pumping of a 880 in that regard... still much easier than a 397 though.
I don’t think you can buy a better rifle for the money... out of the box it’s already what folks try to mod the 880 into and every bit the equal of my 397.
In my opinion, Daisy came out with a real winner with the “new 1977 “.
Btw, a lot of internal parts interchange with 880 parts, except the pump head assembly and abutment, square wheels, stronger pump handle.
So far the power parts are not available from Daisy, but are supposed to become available.
Probably due to the “virus” thing.
Mine has become my go to shooter and small game hunter.... I love it!!
I really like the thumbhole stock for off hand shooting.

you're priorities are absolutely correct, Tom. i was joking when i twisted them in my earlier reply.
you stated in a previous post that you were in the garage keeping a lookout for chippers, but stopped when your wife came home as you took in the groceries. that, my friend, told me what kind of a man you are, and we need more men to be like that. i am involved in a couple mentoring programs at my church - there are too many young men that need someone to look to for guidance and direction. sometimes, i need someone, too.
have a great day !

Hi Tom!
I am following your Chipper Saga! Great shooting! Wow, you have a lot of Chipper holes!! Do you cover them up? Also, I got the Flashpup in wood in .177, it's the only caliber legal for backyard plinking/hunting in Illinois. The pump was out of stock so bought the ebay pump some people recommended, waiting on it so I can start acquainting myself with the pup.

Hi Supreet.
Yes I fill in the holes. There are fewer and fewer chippers around these days.
All my efforts have made an impact on the Chippers. I have only eliminated about three since my last post.
I also have a NEW Weapon in my arsenal. Tater ( Jerry) sent me a chipmunk trap. I caught a Chipper in it today.
Like everyone else I have things to do during the day. This new trap is really going to help.
I don't have to be watching all the time now with the trap that Tater sent me.

I went out Garage Sale shopping with my wife today
When I returned, I had another Chipper in the trap that Tater sent me.
That makes two that I have been able to trap. Thank you again Jerry.
While out Garage Sale shopping, I picked up another Chipmunk trap.
The garage sale one is older, but it still works OK.
They are both identical traps. So now I have two of them.

Glad your catching them Tom. You'll be busy now with two traps going.
