I did get out to the state land today and managed to get a chipper at about 20 yards.

Nice shot Wayne!

Thanks Dave !!!

Nice Wayne...good shooting ! I am glad that you could get out and hunt.
How were the mosquitoes out there today. The skeeters are just wild in the woods here.
Did you get any rain today ? At my place, I got thunderstorms & rain. The rain started at 6 am this morning. It rained steady & hard until 10:30 am, then on and off the rest of the day.
I got a chipper today myself.

Thanks Tom !!! The skeeters and deer flys were thick out there today, had my cutters on and didn't get any bites.
-
Wayne, great shot! Those chippers are small and skittish!
-
Good shooting on the chipper, Wayne....
-
Thanks Randall and Luis !!!

Nice Wayne! I managed a couple yesterday as well. Looks like rain today so probably won't be getting out. Deer flies are bad this year here but amazingly the mosquitoes are not (certainly not complaining). Happy hunting!

Thanks David !!! I know I'll be getting out tomorrow for sure but unsure about today, it's already kinda late in the day for the red squirrels, I did just air up my .22 Sentry HC and topped 4 magazines of slugs. I see by the forecast that the humidity is supposed to drop fast starting a 10AM and I still may go there to get some exercise at least.

Nice shooting Wayne! It must be real nice to be able to walk about in the woods and get some dinner in the process.
Or...is it dinner? Dunno if you can eat them. If it were me, I know I'd grill em up at least once to try them out.
I'd eat just about anything at least once, though.

Hi Wayne.
I have been following your hunting posts very closely. You and "Disco Dave" have been doing really great this year on the Reds and you have been doing fantastic on the Chippers. Them Chippers are hard to hit....especially so.... if they are moving around.
I sure do like how your "home made" cast Ammo is working out for you. Wow ..what a smack they make.
They are phenomenally accurate with your PCP rifles. Devastating too.
Go get some more !
Best Wishes - Tom

Thanks again Tom !!! I just got back about an hour ago, didn't get out til late but I did manage to get another chipper today, I was using my .22HC today shooting slugs and really did a number on the one I got today.. I'm going to include this one here too in the video because I did get a short clip of it yesterday.

Thats great Wayne. I'm glad that you got one. I'll be interested in seeing this new clip that you are making.
I am thinking that the slugs that you make are "The Bomb" on wild game. Boy oh boy... the other Ammo that you make sure is.
Just as soon as the skeeters ease up a bit I am going to get out on the state land and freshen up my brush-blinds out there and maybe make some camp furniture for them. If I got in and whipped up some camp chairs with my chainsaw, that would be great and better than sitting on the deadfall logs. I also need to brush out the deer trails that I move about on and remove any fallen trees. Those deadfalls become a real hazard when the snow gets deep and I can't see them anymore. The state let out logging leases, last March, on some Oak stands that I used to hunt and the loggers clear cut about 700 acres in there. It is good that I have 60,000 more acres to hunt on or I would be in a real fix, come this fall.
I can't get way back in on the logging roads anymore because I sold the old 2005 3/4 ton Dodge 4x4 Power Wagon last December and bought a new GMC Encore FWD car. The 30 mpg on that car is great but it won't go in where that old Dodge would. When I traded in the Dodge I only had 58,000 miles on it. The mechanical & body were mint too. I had spooled new wire rope on the winch and the off-road mud tires were in good shape. The guy that bought it, also bought all the extras that I had for the Dodge including the class-6 hitch. I got big bucks for that pickup and it came close to paying off the new GMC.
I lucked out and got another Chipper today myself.

Tom earlier I was checking out that new Ford Bronco that's coming out for 2021, it's mighty impressive I must say and sure does resemble the old original ones a lot but has all really cool modern stuff on it and the option of 2 different power plants a 4 banger and a V6.
