Title: Air Leak Rumination
Post by: SpiralGroove on July 21, 2020, 03:40:43 PM
Hey Guys,
I've got 3 PCP's with very slow air leaks.  Two are QB79's and one BAM B50.  They leak about 1,000 PSI per week and seem to stop leaking at about 100 bar - I think ???.
So with my inconsistent a hand pump, it's been a constant pain.

However, recently I purchased an Xisco pump from Wes via Travis's research.

Because I've done many mods on all of the above guns, I hate to tear them apart again to figure out if the valve o-rings, bottle adapter o-rings of the valve poppet itself is leaking - or a combination thereof?

I'm thinking of just pumping them up at least once per week (2/5 min) or after a shoot, instead spending hours doing frustrating rebuilding in search of the leaks?

I think I'm getting Lazy :o.

I've definitely let some very slow leaks sit until I had another excuse to tear into the gun, but 1000 psi a week would probably be enough for me to at least determine where the leak is and decide from there.

From my own experience if its that slow its typically a foster fitting leak or leaking threw the gauge. Pump them full and then spray with soapy water and see if you find it, if not its a slow valve leak or gauge leak under the glass. I hate leaks....
