I know it is not in the poll but my money is on the Gamo Urban.
Just a great all around pcp for under 300 bucks.
Its quiet, light, accurate, well built, adjustable, not pellet picky, plenty of power but it is ugly.

Umarex Origin could  fit that bill if it is reliable and perform as promise.. 8)

Not enough actual field info on the Avenger or the Origin .22 to make a fair comparison.
Manufacturer promises ain't gonna cut it.
Also, my vote would be biased because I only own the Urban. However, I will say that the Urban fills that niche so well for me that I really don't have a need to purchase the others. That's not saying that, if a 'too good to pass up' deal landed at my feet, I wouldn't grab one.

BTW.... there are several other choices out there for a sub $300 PCP.

If you do some research here on the GTA....
The Gauntlet was not without issues... most were addressed by consumers.

The Fortitude had so many push backs that they kinda let the competition beat them to the punch. There were so many other options by the time they finally came to market, Crosman took a shot in the foot on that one.

Oh and..... pre-orders turn me off.

Hard to beat the Benjamin Fortitude Gen2 with what you get for the money if it shoots as good or better than my Maximus.
Regulated, 10 round rotary magazine, Fully-shrouded barrel that is threaded for Moderator, adjustable hammer spring, High shot count per fill on lowest power setting.

PLUS you get Crosman's vast parts availability and excellent customer support, with a little mentioned (here) FIVE-YEAR WARRANTY!

I have no experience with either the Fortitude or the Avenger, so hard for me to say either way on those.  Since the Fortitude shares a lot of parts with the Marauder and is backed by Crosman, I would probably put my vote on it.  I've had 3 Gauntlets, one in each available caliber.  I still have one in .177 that I picked up on sale for $159.99, so at that price, it's a clear winner!  At full price, it's still exceptionally accurate, but it's also heavy and the barrel is susceptible to POI shift s if handled roughly.  As others have already pointed out, there are no real world reports on the Avengers yet, just reviews by those YT guys that I feel are going to give positive reviews so they can keep the flow of test air guns flowing! It looks to have a lot of potential, but real world reviews are needed to know for sure...

I just grabbed a Walther Dominator 1250 from Umarex for $297.49 using the GTA discount code.  That's a $700+ dollar rifle!  Would I pay full price for it?  Probably not, but if it proves to be as accurate as the reviews say it is, it will be an exceptional sub $300 air gun!

I have the Gauntlet and the Fortitude,, don't have an Avenger ,, so between the 2 models I do own that are on your poll I'd choose the Fortitude hands down.  Good power, amazing shot count, easy to work on, extremely accurate, just an amazing rifle as far as I'm concerned.   Only rifle I think comes close for me would be my Urban, which I love, but it's not on the list.

HAve not tried them all...someone likely has.

"Best" is hard to pin down....most powerful?....most accurate?...most shots per fill?....most efficienty use of air?...most trouble free?...most user fiendly?

You only listed 3 in your poll...which is OK by me...shows some thinking on your part.

Limited your choices to 3K rifles, regulated, repeaters, shrouded, all 3 are bolt actions.  Fine with me,a man who knows what he wants is easier to find an airgun match.

Didn't mention other things that are important to some of us....weight, length, caliber, energy level, trigger adjustments,DIY repars, parts supply, etc.

Keeping an open mind about the 3 you list:

#3.Avenger could be the best thing ever...just not enought time/real owner use to tell.  The reviews look good, but the reveiwes of a lot of new airguns looked good.Count that one as a definated "maybe"...joint the consumer testing?

#2 Fortitude isn't a power gun (that's a plus for me). If you were thinking close to out-the-box,liter,easier to DIY repairs,I'd be on with that in .177.

#1. Gauntlet is well onwer-reserched. It's heavey and long, has shown to be powerful but a bit of an air-hog even though it gets good power for a long shot count .  Multi-caliber.

I'm going to have to go with the Gauntlet.

As others have mentioned, there are a bunch of good options in this price range. I think “best” is determined by how you prioritize the various features of the options. Each person will prioritize features differently. For me, I want a gun that is backyard friendly for sound,  is hand pump friendly and gets a good usable shot count.  Made in USA and parts availability is a bonus too. I also like the styling on the Fortitude. Some other guns just look ugly to me. That means the Fortitude gets my vote.

I love my Urban!

Lightweight, good trigger, accurate, good ergonomics/balance, solidly built, and a hard punch!

IMO it has become too hard to tell what is the best PCP for anyone, due to new ones being released daily, and improvements made by MFG or DIY to date, I will suggest one today and gladly buy you the newest bestest one tomorrow :)
Either way it can be cool to have the best air rifle ever or be the first to report any issues with a new release ;)

A bit of an understatement. I started with the XS60 PCP's and a MM pump. For $200 more now you can get a 4300 psi gun with huge shot count, massive user friendly to tune and very good power. I kind of wish now it was the first time I heard of a PCP, because I would have saved enough to put a $500 scope, SCBA tank and a compressor, along with a few tins of every .22 pellet and slug made.  :(  Oh well ::)

As previously mentioned I love my urban. If I can throw another name in the ring the hatsan flash is light,  powerful, and has a good trigger

I think the main clincher in the OP is those guns are regulated. ah the simpler times when you pumped to regulate ;)

My vote goes to the Benji Fortitude . Mine is .22 but may actually be better in .177. Good shot count , hand pumpable , very backyard friendly and another plus , made in the good ol USA , which is a good thing especially now with the economy needing all the help it can get.

OTOH, parts not added do not break.

Back when I did not understand regulators, I read a technical article discussing both regulated and non-regulated rifles.   Part of the discussion was about performance (lower ES) of regulated rifles vs non-regulated rifles; another part discussed reliability of the regulator; and yet another part was cost vs the first two parameters.

In the end one pays the money and makes a choice.

Maybe the "trickle down tech/cost" really happens.

The lest expensive PCP "then"  is about 2X the least expensive PCP now.

Pumps are also about 1/3-1/4th  the price...compressor about 1/3the price...bottem line charonograph about 1/3 the price.

Cheap repeater 3K fill PCPwas pretty much an add-on dream then....now there are several offerings under $300.

Regulated, repeater PCP's were the "hot stuff"...now there are choices under $300.

So far, this is the best low cost time to start the PCP habit (although...who knows...the lower price trend may continue.)

The cutting edge high-tech rifles stay high priced....but if the inovations are worthy, they eventually "trickle down".

I would say Avenger, but until these guns get into owners hands and are put through their paces, it will just be a gun with "potential". Until then I would go with the Fortitude over the Gauntlet, and probably the Sentry over both of those if it was one of the choices.
