Looking that this previous post.....there is a reason one of them didn't get tested.
Am cursing the choice to take that Umarex/Hammerli 850 apart.

4 hours just to get it back to where it started.
1. "Clam shell"construction. Really have to be careful in pulling one apart.
2. Just taken open when distrubed at my work....goofy dog scatters parts when I go to answer the door.
(MY fault...not the dog's....the FedExguy would have left the package.)
3. Are differences between this one and the one I THOUGHT I knew from years ago. Menory could be fickle, but am thinking they changed some stuff.
4. Come up with both a mystery part and short one little tiny weak spring.
5.Figured out the mystery part with the help of a lot of vids/pictures on line.
6. Can't find the fricking tiny-tiny spring.
7. 9 tries in duplicating the springfrom the junk box, trying to get the combination of short/skinny/tiny and weak tension needed.
8. THEN I find the lost orginal spring, curnched flat and stuck in the tread of my shoe.
9. 4 hours later, got it back together, substitute spring,in more-or-less the orginal form.
Yeah,,,,I'm at fault....should have secured that big goofy Catahoula hound....should have secured the opened air gun...should have let the4 FedEx guy just leave the package.
But I'm still not loving the insides of this Umarex/Hammerli 850.

We are laughing with you, not at you :)

Yep, that little tiny tiny weak spring that fit into the bolt probe is a bear................ ;)
I now take it apart, (when needed) inside a cloths cleaner bag, traps all tiny flying parts ball bearing/springs etc.
I see that the Dan has one also............... ::)
Just wish I could find my JET intake magnet, 1 pass and everything with in 3' is stuck to it,
getting it off is another story.............Lol

The only clamshell air rifles I have messed with are the crosman pumpers... they are simple enouh to not be a pain.. ;) to bad they went to plastic tho...

People thrown out refrigerators.
I'll come along and slice the plastic seal and dig out the long strip magnets.
Cut to 18"length,end up with an 18"X18"magetic pad for "nothing".
But is till won't stop a big-pawed 70 pound hound running across it.

"New part/spring" was a little flat bit with a tiny-tiny spring that is suppose to power the pivoting part of the magazine "hand".
I do not remember that from my first Hammerli 850,....but then again, the parts never got scattered.
Had to find a tiny-tiny-weak spring to replace what I couldn't find (well...I did find it at after the fact, crushed and stuck to the sole of my shoe). Donor was a mechanical pencil ("click" pen springs were too fat).
Other part that made me scratch my head and want to change was a striker rebuoulkd spring (striker actually hits that sping before the striker contacts the valve stem).
WANTED to change that spring and see if it changed velocity as I would expect (stronger would be slower/weaker would be faster)….but I just took getting it back together and working with the home-brew lost spring as a "win".

Stealing another guy's picture (as I'm NOT taking the SOB apart agin just for a picture).

The "lost srping" took awhile to get a subsitute....it'stiny/short/and weak...runs a pivit "claw"on the vertially moving mag. ratchet.
The "adjusted spring" contacts the striker before it hits the valve stem.
Am thinking that less tension would be a harder valve hit....more tension would be a weaker valve hit...and the spring itself is an anti-bounce system (it's a lite striker).
I went the "slow" way,and tried a stiffer anti-bounce spring.
Which did bring it down to a nice 5 ish foot pounds...and a whole lot of shots per 2X12gr. Comes out to 3% velocity spread, 5 foot pounds, over 125 shots for 2X12gr.

Yup sure makes an AR or AK look pretty simple for sure LOL
