With the hawks usually around things have been very quiet but this morning this guy was out and so was I with the Disco and hunter extremes. I caught him as he came out from under a bush at about 40yds, a lower shoulder shot that ended his raiding days. :D (https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50112532478_3b502e32f2_h.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/2jmgQ1E)R71420 (https://flic.kr/p/2jmgQ1E) by David (https://www.flickr.com/photos/150676152@N05/), on Flickr

Nice one Dave !!! I got a few chippers but the only tree squirrel I seen was a fox squirrel
-
Dave, great shot as usual! Your tally of squirrels and chippers must be close to quadruple digits with your Disco!
-
Dave good shooting on that Red. 40yrds!!! Dig it.
-
Excellent shooting Dave. Nice Red.
Best Wishes - Tom

Nice shooting Dave!

Thank you guys!

Nice shot placement.
We don't have reds around here, but the reds that are in Illinois are protected.
Only reds I've shot were in Montana and i couldn't believe how nasty and agressive they were.

Whoever made red squirrel a protected species in IL has apparently never seen the damage they do. In Michigan the red squirrels are considered a pest species, can be taken any time of the year. They are aggressive, territorial and destructive. They chase away or try to bite any other bird or squirrel in the area and chew holes in buildings to gain access to the interior (like my garage).

Thanks Carl! Yes Jimmy they are pests
