Had an XL725, I ended up selling her due to difficulty in acquiring .25cal pellets out here in Hawaii, and to get some extra cash for books!
Figured my trusty Gamo 440 would serve me well enough that I wouldn't miss having a "hammer" in the stable. I was wrong. I really miss having a hammer, granted the XL725 was more of a sledgehammer.. I'm feeling a Nitro Piston in .22 will fit the bill perfectly.
Been reading reviews on Amazon and other sites trying to narrow my sights. Yet I haven't seen to much info on the Venom.
Impressions? Results? Heartaches? How's the Venom?

I have the nitro venom dusk in .177 cal. I don't know if your referring to that one or not. But for a under 200.00 dollar rifle it's pretty good and really accurate. The scope isn't that great that comes with it but works well enough. The stock is pretty good and looks to be durable. The trigger like most crossmans not so good but once you adjust it to your liking it will become familiar. Mine is not pellet picky and shoots all but the super light pellets well. All in all for the price it's pretty nice and easy to cock. This gun was the start of my addiction and four guns later I still like it. Its not a super magnum so it's easier to master then the more powerful airguns out there. I still take it out in country to pop pigeons and starlings riding around in my car because it's short and easy to handle and easy to shoot. But I am not really addicted, I can stop anytime I want, haha.

The Nitro Venom, Venom Dusk utilize same combustion chamber design with gas ram. Only thing different are the ergonomics.
Here is my Nitro Venom with a custom finished Quest stock. It originally came with synthetic stock.

I have a nitro venom in .177 and like Gene I swapped out the stock. I put a summit stock on it and I absolutely love the rifle. Great accuracy and power and a really nice firing cycle.

I also have a nitro venom .177, and like everyone else, I ditched the supplied stock for a AW Trail stock. Love the power, shot cycle and the accuracy. Very tight lockup on it too.
