Title: Powermaster 760 good buy?
Post by: Zachman894 on July 12, 2020, 01:10:29 AM
so I've been very kind to myself for my bday. I've bought myself a mp40 a ben 392s a makarov a legacy 1000 and a vintage powermaster 760.  :-[ I bought the powermaster for 100 bucks (wood forearm metal receiver, great condition) im just curious if my impulse buy just lost me a couple bucks?

It's in really good shape, but that does seem a little much.

If it makes you smile when you use it, then it's money well spent.

Stay safe,

J~

awesome,  thank you for your reply.  I've 2 or 3 of the newer plastic pm 760s and I love them just wanted one more iconic and sturdy. One worthy of passing down ya know. So im sure ill love it. Thanks =)

Well, I wouldn’t have paid that, as I got 760’s coming out the wazoo.  BUT, if I was looking for one, and one came up in great condition...........

Minimum wage here in California is what, $12/hr?  You spend a few hours searching for that particular gun, it pays for itself.  I bought a S&w 77a recently, and paid more than it should have been worth.  But, if my time is worth anything, it was a bargain.

I really wouldn't sweat it.  The Revelation 760 that I found at the swap-meet set me back $45 with a tin of pellets and a bottle of BBs.  Considering that I'd been looking for one like it since I was 14 (46 years), it seemed like a good deal.  The first one I handled and learned to shoot with was a '67 tootsie-roll model that belonged to my late brother.  (He traded it off before I got a chance to own it and the guy that got it is gone, too.)  Adusting for inflation, we both got good deals!

Be safe,

J~

That's a bit much for a 3rd variant 760 ( though only made in In 1975 I believe)  in my opinion,  but honestly I have tried to really like the 760 and it never really clicked with me very well. I just gave my 2nd variant 760 to my cousin a couple weeks ago.

That gun does appear to be in great condition, but I think it's more of a $75 gun.
At least $100 is not a fortune .

I've been working with it put it through the tests chrony tests are decent for what it was, I think 75 bucks would have been a better deal more fair for sure.  But I learned my lesson to do better research and all in all I'm happy it's by the back door full of bbs and it was made before I was born (89 me) and is sturdier(wood and metal baby!!) than a 760 classic i bought late 2019 I've had to MacGyver many times.  Now what I want is a company to start making multi pump bb/ pellet guns like they did so many years ago! Probably won't happen sadly =[ so I'll try and learn wood working.

Why ??? just buy a 70s benji or BS. I tell my kids all the time (born in the 90s ) There was better music before u were born.

if a company made a pumper today it would be out of plastic.

The best advice I tell people getting into airguns today is...buy the blue book of airgun book.
