Title: Hand Pump Not Working on PCP's Without a Fill Probe?
Post by: SpiralGroove on July 07, 2020, 12:17:56 AM
Hey Guys, I know this is kind of a basic question, but here goes:

On PCP's requiring a fill probe, ... BSA R-10, Hatsan AT-44-10 and Diana Stormrider - My Benjamin pump works w/o hesitation.  The pump fills their bottles or air cylinders; these tanks were topped off.

However, PCP's like the BAM B50 and QB78/79's with HPA that use the basic female connect, can't be filled?   These tanks are empty.  It almost seems as if the fill (check) valve o-ring isn't working/sealing to create back pressure on the pump.  I can't really hear air leaking out of the Tanks/air cylinder, because it's not going in :P.  It's almost as if the pump isn't putting out air?

Further, One HPA bottle Did Fill when being topped off. However, when empty it doesn't.

I started filling gun's which used a Fill Probes after 3 guns wouldn't begin filling (using basic female connect) and I wanted to verify the pump wasn't actually the culprit.

Hoping to end my trial and error method by asking someone who's gone through this before.  I haven't been using PCP's in a long time and forgotten the basics :P.

Any help is appreciated ;)

Hmm bad oring in side the female Connector, they recommend keeping them lubed with silicone oil also.

What size is that stinking o-ring anyway?

What does that mean NP ... ?
The pump works with a probe, but not with the basic quick release - .

Do probes help the o-ring seal in the quick release or am I just taking the proverbial bate?

Not much of an expert in fosters since I rather get guns with probes but in my limited experience in well over a decade I've seen all kinds of different sizes in Fosters male and female, some you can't even attach because they are to tight some are so lose they don't even seal unless you wiggle and rotate until it happens :)

Hey Kirk, hopefully i understand the scenario right where you have completely empty air cylinders and they wont even begin to fill correct? if so, had that problem on my brother airforce filling from zero, turns out his gun needed to be cocked in order to fill from empty. Hopefully im reading good today and that helps :D

Hey Guys, looked it up and the basic o-ring for the quick connect is a 010.  Put one in and added some lube per Back_Roads and now it works - shazaam ;).

Thanks .... I've been away from the Dark Side so long ... I'd forgotten what rascals you are :P.
No civility what-so-ever ;D.  Us ... Upstanding Gents on the German gate would never stoop to such levels.
