Always wanted a 2240 for years and it just never happened. I decided to get the 2240XL with the 1/2 thread adaptor for a LDC. What I wanted was a garage shooter that would give lots of shots on a cart. The way the stock 2240 comes it's a gas hog. Stock in the heat of Arizona (90 degrees) in the garage it shot 470 fps then fell off a cliff on shot # 28. I have ordered a lighter hammer spring to preserve the stock spring, and a 10 inch barrel. I hope to get many more shots than the 28 I get now in the heat. I have read so many threads on the 2240 how guys end up spending huge $$$ on mods only to not like the gun all that much. $34.00 for the 10 inch barrel, $8.00 for the lighter hammer spring and already installed a lighter adjustable trigger. I think that's all I am going to do.

Those are pretty high prices for the barrel and spring. A lighter and/or shorter hammer spring will improve efficiency.
An SSG will make a very significant increase in shot count by reducing hammer bounce.
There are many topics on SSG's for PCP's, but the objectives are the same.
Here is one on a 2240 with 14.25" barrel (with shot string graph):

Thanks Craig
Don't think I will worry about the hammer, maybe the lighter spring will tame the bounce some I don't know. Spring price is with shipping. I didn't want to cut the factory spring. Barrel is supposed to be polished and crowned but I could have done that. When it gets here and I put the stuff together I will post a string.

I was wondering how the AZ heat was treating you. Guess it's about the same as here. 🥵

Years ago I went through the same thing By reducing the weight of my hammer and making a reduced opening in the transfer port I got excellent results. shot around 400 fps for 70 shots. Have no recall on final hammer weight, sorry.
