It was pretty bad for several months,...real bad  ;) ;)
but I'm a patient person and like to give chances,......it payed of, Photobucket upgrade the site, it works great and I still have all my pictures from well over a dozen years ago in one site,

Not jumping ship at the first signs of trouble at times pays of  ;D ;D ;D

Nice I dumped PB at least 10 years ago wasn't for the cost it was because of the limited bandwidth allowance.  I have been using flicker and not happy when it was sold and had to pay to keep all of my pics backed up.

Pic hosting has always had ups and downs, in turn I've always viewed them as a temporary space to share pics that can go away at any time....

Nice to hear PB is getting their act together, becoming more user friendly again.

I dont use any type of cloud service. Read the legals with some when you pass all content becomes theirs to do with thwy aee fit.

I have an external drive and back up both our computers on or near the 1st of every month.  Then it goes back in the safety deposit box.

Don't you use the attachment option?

I really don't know what you are talking about :) :) quite dumb with computers here :)

If I can post straight off my SIM card like I do on Facebook I would/could post way more pictures and videos :)

I resize and use the attachment option when using my phone. I also have a nice little Lumix camera that takes great pics in the correct size for posting here. Just plug it into usb and post them from there or move them to my harddrive. You can buy 32gb micro sd cards for $10. I back up pics on them and store them in a labelled envelope.

How do you post directly from a SIM card ? ...I don't really see the option.

Sorry Manny... I'm no help there. I've never posted from my cell. I plug it into the PC then copy and resize the pics.

I don't even have a Phone :) :) ...my pictures are taken with a camera, then I take the SIM card out, put it in the computer, with Facebook I can post directly photos and videos from there,

Otherwise I transfer to Facebook and then post here from there :)

Hit the reply button.
When the reply box opens up scroll down till you get to:

+ Attachments and other options

Click on the "+"

When it "opens" up look lower and you should see "Attach:" with a button 'Browse" below it. Click on "Browse" button

When the window opens up find the location where the pic is saved that you want to attach. Then click on the file and click the "Open" button
The file will then show as an attachment. Just make sure it's not over the max size

And if you have a Mac just open pic and do an "export" it lets you adjust the size there on the fly. Then you can post that pic instead of original.  I've even opened the pic again and downsized again if it won't get small enough the first save.

This one here is 1280x720

Video posting is a bit different. You'll want to use a hosting sight for that.

So PB is no longer watermarking all the pictures they're hosting?  Because that would be fantastic news.  It really irks me when I'm trying to do a picture search, and I find the perfect one, and there's a huge "PHOTOBUCKET" banner slathered all over it  ::)

LOL....I dumped PhotoBucket when they held my pics hostage unless I paid for what was previously free! LOL....kinda raised a lack of trust on such a shady tactic without notice so I could at least back up my pics before the change!

I just visited the PhotoBucket site and found that they are offering "Beginner" for about $72 per year WITHOUT HOSTING. If image hosting is needed/wanted then the cost is about $96 per year............

Since the "PhotoBucket" fiasco a couple years ago I started saving my images to CDs as a backup if needed and started using the free imgur and Snapagogo hosting sites ever since. LOL......even the attached pic resides on imgur!

Yep, same here! Very annoying but it was (IS?) a part of holding pics hostage to PhotoBucket like this............

Am I paying for that ?.....man I don't know, I know I was paying 20 bucks a year,....maybe I got grandfathered in ? ...

I need to check, I sure don't want to pay more then 20 bucks a year.

YOU won't see them. You have an active paid-for account.  When you go to your account, you won't see the watermarks either.  However, anyone who doesn't have PB or doesn't pay PB's fees will see the watermark in a picture search online.  For example, I have pictures in PB.  I can still log on and such.  When I'm on the site, there's no watermarks.  But because I don't pay their ridiculous extortion fees, when I do a picture search online, I see the HUGE watermarks, as pictured in the screenshots above.  I was done with PB years ago, looks like I will be for the foreseeable future.   ;D

OK, so it looks like I got grandfathered in, but only until July 28th,

If after that I'll have to pay any more I definitely will not and let Photobucket go,

Thanks to have learned to post pictures directly I don't really need it, to bad I'll lose all them pictures,....but that's life, that's why I still print the ones I want to keep  ;D ;D ;D

"to bad I'll lose all them pictures"
When I was recovering pics that were held hostage by PhotoBucket I found some of the pics I posted with the Bing browser using "wved airgun pics" or "nced airgun pics" the search bar. I didn't get a lot of "hits" but I did get some that were posted on the forums.

I just did a "nced airgun pics" search on Bing and these pics I posted on a forums. I right clicked on the Bing and chose "save image as", then saved it to my "pictures" folder for adding to my free imgur photo hosting site.....

Here are a few others that showed up on a "nced airgun pics" Bing search (my pics are highlighted in heavy black lines)..........

Changing the Bing search to "nced target pics" these were displayed (and others) to be "saved as" for uploading to the imgur hosting site. LOL, along with a target I also got a couple other pics I posted "way back when".........

Anywhoo....maybe ALL your pics aren't lost if you do a Bing search on your screen name with a couple other identifiers.

Welcome glad to hear it worked. Also thumb drives are cheap now and can hold a lot. Assuming your chromebook has a USB port if not I'd hazard a guess it has a SD slot.

so do I buy a memory stick and download all my pictures in it ?

Yep, and they're cheap these days. By a bigger gig size than you think you need, especially if you have a bunch of videos.

I was at Cosco yesterday and they had a pack of three 64GB flash drives for about $20 or one 256GB drive for about $33..........

I'm still "old school" by burning "backups" or Linux operating system ISOs on 700MB or 4.7GB DVDs but perhaps I need to start saving my "airgun stuff" to flash drives.

My laptop has a built in card reader. I have the adapter card for the micro sd chips. I like that setup. I can use the micro sd chips like thumb drives.

I became familiar with one of those 'micro sd chips' when I needed to increase memory on my GPS.  They are about the size of my thumbnail and hold about a gazillion bites of stuff.  Amazing to me  --  I started with a 4K Computer and 'floppy disks'.  We have come a long way!
When my Judy and I need something done to our devices, we get the 8-year old grandson to handle it.

I think my Chromebook being the cheapest has just very little storage space, I was able to download a few more individual pictures but that was it.

Looking on Amazon for those Flashcards,....WOW you learn something everyday, they are pretty cheap I'll order a couple.

When I download how does it know to go to the flashcard instead of  trying to go to the computer files ?

sorry, real dumb here :) :) :)

Manny, on my computer [MAC], there is an area called "FINDER" and the icon is a square smiling face.  When I attach a foreign device [such as my camera] using a USB connection (https://www.buyprinters.com/p36200-generic-usb-a-to?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=36200&r160162161159=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4L_qgYS56gIVy5-zCh0DhQxUEAQYBSABEgJJBvD_BwE (https://www.buyprinters.com/p36200-generic-usb-a-to?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=36200&r160162161159=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4L_qgYS56gIVy5-zCh0DhQxUEAQYBSABEgJJBvD_BwE)),
that device shows at the bottom of the Favorites area in the leftmost column of the window that opens.  Clicking on that device in that column will show its contents.
From there, it gets sort of individual device specific.
Others computers are different but similar.
Good luck.

I haven't used a Chromebook but with Windows the memory Card/Stick will show up as a Drive when inserted so, you just choose the location to save it to. I would imagine the Chromebook is similar.

I ditched PB a long time ago. I had all my images backed up elsewhere but am still bummed out that so many of my old posts and the posts of others are messed up by the sudden change. Practically none of the old tutorials that used PB are restored or intact. It just goes to prove that when using a third party hosting site it is probably just a matter of time until your post are messed up. On the forums there is no easy way to go back and edit all the posts one has made to restore them. So I believe hostage is the proper term for those that got caught up in it. I don't blame them for wanting to make money for their service but they destroyed a lot of historical post on the forums by their choice or ability to not keep the old posted photos grandfathered in.

All this tech stuff is just so much voodoo to me.  My approach to computers is entirely informed by superstition.  Computers are possessed by malevolent spirits.  I perform a ritual sacrifice and spill a libation of coffee before genuflecting to the laptop.  I light joss to propitiate the internet spirits.  I say prayers to the CPU god so my computer will boot up.  When all else fails I just get my wife to do it for me.  Much easier and it makes her feel superior. :P

Generally there is an option to set a location to DL too. In windows it's in the general settings area. It will be a process much like this.

Change download locations
You can choose a location on your computer where downloads should be saved by default or pick a specific destination for each download.

On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
At the bottom, click Advanced.
Under the "Downloads" section, adjust your download settings:
To change the default download location, click Change and select where you'd like your files to be saved.
If you'd rather choose a specific location for each download, check the box next to "Ask where to save each file before downloading."
Default download locations
If you didn't change your default download location, then Google Chrome downloads files to the following locations:

Windows 10, 8, 7 and Vista: \Users\<username>\Downloads
Mac: /Users/<username>/Downloads
Linux: /home/<username>/Downloads
