I have an AT44 QE Long that's ready for some modifications - transfer port work at the least, and maybe some mods to make it easier to adjust the hammer spring accurately and repeatably. If nothing else, I need to add some friction to the hammer spring adjustment, as it appears to creep a bit.
I have a complete machine shop, but before I start, are any tricks or cautions that I should be aware of before tearing it down?

They're pretty straightforward when disassembling. I haven't played around with disassembling the entire trigger group, so I can't say how that is.
The transfer port also sticks into the upper block, so try to lift the block instead of moving it forward and back. Theres two small orings there as well, so just keep an eye out when you're doing that.
Your debounce device along with it's spring may also fall out. There's also a pin that your debounce sits on, so maybe a towel underneath while you're disassembling will prevent those small pieces from bouncing off the table and into oblivion.
If you plan on taking off the barrel, it would be cheap insurance to mark it's orientation on the block just so that everything lines up nice when you put it back together. Same thing down on the valve end inside the lower tube. You'll see the hole when you remove the transfer port.
And if you decide to take apart the auto-indexing mechanism, I'd recommend lifting slowly from the rifle butt end. There's a spring that's slim and under a little bit of tension. Maybe a cloth on the back to catch it when it careens out after lifting the plate. I don't think you'll need to fiddle with the auto-indexing if you're modding for power, but just in case.
I think that's mostly it. Good luck!
