Title: Facebook jail for posting pics of paper targets.
Post by: bryan123 on June 25, 2020, 09:56:48 AM
Hi,

For the past couple of years we have been posting pics of our 10 meter airgun targets and never had a problem. Standard targets with no depictions of anything living.  Standard round bullseye targets.  Yesterday I posted this and was thrown into Facebook jail for 24 hours:

" Some after dinner 10 meter practice with our new ....rifle.... One flyer that was on me, otherwise a nice grouping.  Practice, practice, practice."

They said, "Your post didn't follow our community standards on guns, animals and other regulated goods."

I'm in FB jail for 24 hours.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks.

Not for that, but doesn’t surprise me. I got my FB account permanently deleted after being in & out of their FB jail several times. I have a new account now, but hardly use it.

Some arseclown somewhere got all butthurt because you had skeery gunzzzz, most likely.  I don't see this being a problem.  Facebook along with Zuckerburg is among entities I consider to be amongst the most reviled.  Mind you, I never joined FB or any other social media platform save LinkedIn- and that only for professional job-seeking.

In your shoes, I'd reach out to the idiot FB mods, pull up 10M Olympic airgunning, post a buncha picturea, then flame the FREAK out of Facebook for not supporting the most vaunted sporting event in the history of mankind: the Olympic Games- which by very nature are the diametrical opposite of weapons and warmongering.

In fact, if I was on any social media platform, I'd cite 10M airgunning specifically, name Ginny Thrasher from Farmville as the 1st Gold Medal Winner the last Olympics, then berate Facebook for being so incredibly un-American and anti-Olympic.

You can't defend yourself on FB.  You can click a button for FB to review the picture again (which you should do if you're still able), but that's it.  Their system isn't set up for individuals to defend themselves.  Also, after a certain number of bans, they quit telling you why you're being banned apparently!  At least, I was stopped being told what picture or comment violated their weak and pathetic standards about 4 bans ago...  ;D ;D

They use an algorithm that automatically dispenses fb justice.  My wife was in jail for posting a pic of Rudolph last Christmas. Yes, the red nosed reindeer rudolph.  You can keep fb, i won't have anything to do with it.

I'm currently serving a 30 sentence.  My last post offended somebody in a particular headdress.

I had a FB account way back when our family first scattered all over the country. Didn't take long for me to find it not something I wanted to participate in. I somehow managed to permanently block myself. I considered it a blessing.

Unlike those of you who are banned, I deleted my Facebook account voluntarily and don't go back by choice. It's limited value  is far overwhelmed by social politics, governmental politics, and emphasizing broken methods of communication.

.Shows how much I know about FaceJoke   8) 8) 8)

I concur with Mark, though I never created a FaceJerk account.  Social Media had some awesome potential but the social experiments executed by the Big Liar, Mark ZuckerJerk, clearly spell out how nefarious such a platform can be.

Same here! One of the best things I've done in recent times. I much prefer GTA for my social media needs.

This morning I converted an upgraded HP All In One PC that we have in the spare room to Linux Tricia.
This is a PC that Betty Lou typically uses when she is not on her laptop. This was the last Windows PC we had and Windows was giving her fits so she stopped using it.
She came in the room and saw what I was doing and, in no uncertain terms, informed me that Facebook will be used on it.
BUZZKILL !!
I give it a month before I'm wiping and reinstalling again.

Avator,

I'm with you on FB and Windows. One laptop with dual Win10 (for Chaigun only) and Linux Bodhi and one laptop Bodhi only. I tried a dozen Linux flavors.

My wife poo pooed FB for years now she got sucked into it. We can talk here about whether we had socks on during dinner.

Anti-Squirrel,

You are correct sir! When out on probation he should post a BUNCH of links to Olympic shooting!!!! I wouldn't force myself to sink low enough to actually 'talk' to a FB Nazi admin.

Betty Lou uses it to keep in touch with our scattered families. I let her share with me where they are concerned.... anything else and I shut her down. Need to know info that I don't need to know.
But then again.... she watches soap operas.

The boys are into social media, which is fine.  Sonja killed her account a while back for FB.  She was never on anything else except LinkedIn.

Oddly enough, we found we have 2 connections- one is a gal who used to groom my old dogs (Pixie included) is now marrying Sonja's sister's husband's son (from a prior marriage).  The second is the husband more than likely played in jam bands on the Eastern Shore a couple decades ago with my uncle.  Just kinda proves ya don't need FB or social media; you just gotta pay attention when family talks.

Bill- curious how Linux Tricia is.  I've recently upgraded a couple laptops (hardware upgrades) and the performance was vastly improved, so my itch to tinker with computers was rekindled.  I'm thinking about slapping Linux Mint or Puppy Linux on this machine but I wouldn't mind trying a flavor of Linux I haven't run with.

Tricia is of the Mint Cinnamon family.... Very user friendly.

The newest release is Mint 20 "Ulyana".

https://www.linuxmint.com/ (https://www.linuxmint.com/)

The 3rd option down is the one I would use if I were to upgrade again.

Cool, Bill.  I'll slap it on one of the spares and give it a whirl.
