Title: I ordered a BSA R10 SE got R10 TH instead --AOA--
Post by: JohnnyPDX on June 13, 2020, 10:14:34 AM
I received the gun yesterday and it's an upgrade, at least to me.

AOA has the BSA R10 SE Nutmeg Laminate .22 for $999.99 and that's what I paid for and expected to receive yesterday. What I got was a BSA R10 TH Regulated.

After receiving it I visited the AOA page of what I thought I bought https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/precharged-pcp/bsa-r10-se-nutmeg-laminate-air-rifle-.22/ (https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/precharged-pcp/bsa-r10-se-nutmeg-laminate-air-rifle-.22/) and zoomed in on the picture of the R10 SE and actually is a pic of the R10 TH. Weird.

I already love it after just a few shots. It came in a hard case, they added the fill probe adapter like I asked them to, included a short chrony shot string, and it was well-packaged. INFINITELY easier to shoot than a TalonSS.

My worries about decibels was unfounded as it is the same as my TalonSS. Quiet!

Shot three pellets and all three are one-holers and tidy.

No auto safety!!! Hooray.

This is what you should have received http://www.acguns.co.uk/page276.html (http://www.acguns.co.uk/page276.html)

Personally I'd been furios to receive that plastic coated cheek piece version but it's good that you are happy.

Thanks Ranchibi, it's good one. Just need to get a bi-pod on it. My glass is Ok for now.

The "plastic coated cheek piece" is height adjustable and I'd be furious to get a rigid un-movable one.

I just filled the suet cake feeders ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I’ve been eyeballing that same bargain from AoA myself, congratulations on your purchase  :o

Thank You Hangtown- Shooter.

If you any questions about that gun please feel free to post or PM. I'm still quite new to it.

Quick observation:
get the single-shot adapter if you like shooting singles
get spare probe
not pellet finicky
not sure about bi-pod cuz the stock is kind of curved there and there's the gauge and fill probe to consider

So far I've shot:
JSB Jumbo, 15.89 gr
JSB Jumbo Heavy, 18.13 gr
Sovereign, 15.9

The gun doesn't seem to care and groups all nicely. I need some Predator Poly asap!

Jsb exact express has been excellent on most of my BSA barrels if you need something light.

I got one starling.

JSB Exact sounds good for long range, no wind. Ground squirrels.

I love .177 but the destruction of .22 is nice. The pellets seemed so HUGE. I like both.

Happy Buying, Happy Shooting

Good going Johnny, glad you're pleased with your purchase. How did you do single loading? Did the rifle come with a single shot tray?

Good Morning Tom,

I purchased the single shot tray separately and glad I did. I would need tweezers to single load but pretty sure if there's will there's a way. I took the lazy way out.

These are about 28-32 fpe guns so JSB Exact Express will give you a nice flat trajectory and it even bucks wind rather well (i.e. not much worse than heavier pellets).

Those are my next purchase.

Priced at Trenier $14.19 / tin 500

Saw a video review of the R10 SE and it was shooting the JSB Express at 900fps.

My gun came from AOA amd they provided a 5-shot chrony string. Five shot avg. JSB Jumbo = 878fps

Keep in mind that there is a trade-off between the two, and speed is not always your friend. Most pellets don't fly well at speeds over 875 fps and often destabilize, but test your rifle at range to be sure. Lighter pellets will fly a little flatter but will also wind drift more, a small increase in weight makes a huge difference as far as I'm concerned. If pesting the heavier weight pellets will have a lot more thump, will carry more energy and carry it further. Keep in mind too that your POI will shift for each pellet brand and weight you shoot, and it's not always just a vertical shift due to weight differences. I try to find the optimum pellet for my rifle, zero for it and have enough power that if I need to dispatch a pest I can do it with confidence.

I'l just have to test the JSB Express. The 15.9 and 18.13 JSB shoot well but I've only got 17 yards here at home and I'm pretty sure my anti-2nd neighbors won't allow me to 'annex' their yard for a longer range... ;) ;) ;)

I'm with you on having the right stuff to "dispatch a pest I can do it with confidence". I detest a missed shot!!!

When I hit a rat I like to see them do a backflip then twitch ONCE.

Congrats! Very Fine Guns!!!

Wish I still had the pic of a sign one home owner put in his front yard with an arrow pointing to his neighbors house. It read something like this.

Attention Criminals. I am well armed, however, my neighbor does not believe gun  rights or self defense. Enjoy! 8)

Hooray, Johnny!  It's great to hear you really enjoy that rifle.  I'm sure starlings and HOSPs will learnt o give your backyard wide berth eventually.  Until then, keep the pellets flying.
