Title: getting cheek weld and eye relief... HOW do you cheat this problem
Post by: JohnnyPDX on June 11, 2020, 10:52:56 AM
I shoot bench with my TalonSS.177 and have had a VERY difficult time lately getting getting cheek weld and eye relief correct.

For about two weeks it seemed every time I pickep up the gun I was grouping left, right and anywhere besides where it grouped and hour before. The gun and scope are in prefect working order... one-holers all the time just not always in the same location as an hour or day before.

I've started jamming my cheek bone in the same spot and that has helped a lot! i even taped a piece of something rigid to the air tank to have a resting spot for the cheek bone,

You guys shoot a lot and gotta have some tricks. Please share.

If seeking ACCURACY ... you DO NOT WANT a cheek weld. The less your face is against ANY STOCK less becomes the rotation / twisting of the action upon firing / recoil.  Same goes for the grip with trigger hand.   FOLLOW THREW is crucial.   Eye box positioning is always tough with guns of that style / AR styles as well.  IMO only real solution is taller than normal scope height so your not having lean so far forward and drop face so low to get good view position.

JMO tho ...

I like your opinions.

I have very tall scope mounts and I'll try and reduce the death grip I have on the pistol grip.

Not sure how to see the scope, without a strong cheek weld, other than to get the tank dropper from TalonTunes.

I appreciate you helping me find a new direction in my problem solving!
