Well got one great deal on the Wildcat Whisper today that I could not pass up. Cleaned barrel, mounted the cheap plastic scope that came with it, sighted it in at twenty yards and shot three dime size five shot groups honest. Have never had a gun do this before. Have about fifty rounds through it and will shoot more when done posting this. Did I tell you I got a great and I meen great deal on this gun. I have never had a Gamo gas piston gun and reading of the thousands of rounds that others have shot had to get one. Was thinking of a Swarm series but when I saw what I could get the Wildcat for I jumped on it. Great little gun and will up grade the scope in the future but really hate to mess with it the way it is shooting. Chime in if you have like stories with the Wildcat Whisper.Thanks. Mike

Forgot to mention that I was shooting the cheap Winnie domes from Tractor Supply. Mike

Gamos are diamonds in the rough. accuracy seems to be the problem seldomly. I have an old style spring whisper that is now smooth and shoots at 12 to 13fpe... silly accurate and easy to shoot. plus they are the easiest rifles to carry afield. 6 lbs seem to be light as air...

I have one and I love it. It was given to me as a birthday present. I didn't want it. I felt bad because the person you got it for me didn't know any better and they got me what they thought would be a present I liked. So I'm out of the included 4x cheap scope and used some leftover cheap pellets that I had. The only ones I had in 177 I think they were daisy and the gun shot really well. So I took it and put a hawk 3 to 9 on it and it shot amazingly good. I got better pellets for it ( jsb,h&n,crosman box domed) , opened it up, cleaned it up and put a 10x 50 UTG fixed powered scope on it and added weight to the butt stock with lead BB shot and I also installed a GTR ( I don't think that is right) trigger I'm not sure what it was but it worked out amazingly well. I have five other break barrels, all heavily modified, and I can't get one to shoot as good as this one that I didn't want. I don't even like the stock or the feel nearly as well as my other guns. But when I get out and shoot on my 70-yard range the one that I can consistently hit Bic lighters and marbles with is this gamma whisper.

Just got a whisper fusion mach1 and so far so good.
Only things I found I don't like
Cat trigger ... I was expecting a bit more from it but???
Whisper muzzel thing .... It's a 2 price inner baffle and I had to remove it( it's easy) cause a cleaning patch fibers some how stuck in the seam or something
And it was dirty as well.
So be careful of the thin plastic "" fins" you don't snag on them or break or distort then cleaning
I seen some one Ina reviews or u Tube claim the pellets hit them and busted them up.
For all the gamo scope complaints mine doing good so far only thing is focus at 8-9 power don't focus well. To my eyes???
Any glad you seemed to of avoided the lemon and happy shooting

Hope that there are more Gamo Wildcat Whisper shooters out there. Chime in. Mike

Man, sorry just a gamo shooter don't qualify! I tried.
-
You qualify, just wanting to get more Gamo feed back. Really don,t care which gun you have. Mike
-
It's like you show up with a gamo and it gets cold...lol

I had an older hunter 220 if my memory is right. I got it maybe around 2002 and only had it for a year before I deployed. I wasn’t a precision guy back then but I remember it was good enough that I don’t have hostility towards it like other brands I’ve shot. My accu was spot on. I sold it though and gave the guy my record book of all the groups I shot as I usually save all targets for each gun. My new CFR is getting dialed in. Today I shot .312 I think at 20 and half half inch horizontal and inch and half vertical at 50 but think I can do better with it. I too am now looking for a break barrel gamo. I think there’s a whisper silent cat that I hear good things about.
-
Gamo been having that bone collector on sale for 120 . May check gamo USA sale page. Shipping is about 11 bucks for me fromthem .
I wanted a model with open sites most gamos don't . At least if the scope boinks I can shoot without untill...
-
The CFR is on sale too for 199 and I found one place that still has the accu for 199 which imo is a better deal.
-
I seen that cfr deal .it's a underleaver.
If you don't mind that.
Looks like a guy can find some gamo deals . This mach1 was 200.
-
What would you upgrade for a scope on this gun? I have my idea but would like to here others. Mike
-
Funny , I was just looking over and researching scopes .
Man you could take all suggestions and read reviews and there all pretty much the same.
Any way if I had YOUR money that hawke has that airmax line thats a just made for air guns , there a tad pricey ,but not so bad overall
Then you got the regular suggestion scoped like utg, and all in the -100 buck area.
In the end you see a 25% say there's was bad and 75% day works to great...lol.
So to me it looks like find a popular recommended by users pick one with the features you like ( retical ,mag power and what not ) buy it try it and hope you did not get the lemon.
That's about how I'm summing it up .
Not to say it the greatest but that gamo scope I got with!one is holding its own so far . It's got it's issues and you can tell it's cheap but it's hitting well to 50 yards with near 2000 pellets so far.
But I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for a replacement if or when it does spit it's bits
-
The gun is so light and pleasant to shoot and carry I would like to keep size and weight down. Straight 4power AO would be great. Maybe the winchester 4AO. Bug buster? If you come up with more cheap, light ,clear scope ideas let me know. Mike
-
I don't see anything wrong with any of your choices.
It sure looks like no matter what you go with will you get one that works and lasts or one the in 200 shots it's shot.
Them ones you listed I'd try and use if one had a sale or deal when I had to buy and I got them on my want list.
For a straight power the ugt 4x seems solid and utg brand is liked .
I think the Winchester is a daisy witch is gamo the utg bugbuster is poplure and recommended or praised I see , but I don't need or care for battery use scopes ( less gimmick= less issues )
I'm just seeing no what you choose it's coming down to is the one you choose going to hold up and last.
What I'd ask is what brand has easy warrantee. If it is a lemon and you needed satisfaction

Just to add use the forums scope gate and you'll see plenty of suggestions and all on scopes from guy's posting ona what should I get or what's the best ,ect...

I have a swarm magnum. Really like it but wish it had iron sites. The inner baffles broke on the first day of shooting when a pellet must have tumbled or doing some weird gyroscopic thing. A few more pellets clipped and I had to use a Dremel tool to kind of smooth out the hole and then shake all the plastic out. That was a bummer but otherwise the gun shoots fine. I wish I had one without the suppressor on the barrel because it isn’t very durable.

That's sad seen stories like yours with that.
I got a mach1 but there 2 roll pins I pop out and remove the baffel end cap and then remove that baffel for service/ cleaning. So your mag don't have that?
I got a cleaning patch stuck in it and thought , darn, but seen it was a easy remove and service
-
I do use the optics gate but thought I would mention it in the gate on the Wildcat that I started as pertaining to that gun. Mike

I see those pins - I will try taking it off one of these days. Thanks for the suggestion.

I use straight and variable power.
I like my straight 4x for hunting and variable for shooting / plinking .
The 3x9 that came on this gamo I tend to keep it at 4 to 7 power and shoot to 50 yd at 4x4.5 in sillouit with a 3/4 in bullseye that target is a stretch at 3-4 power and I like to tighten up to 7 on it
All depends on your use where you use it in the woods 2-4 power stright powered or open range targeting variable for me
Brand? Well with any you all ways stand the chance of getting the lemon . That's just life

It's easy
Push out pins remove the end cap gently use something to grab baffel wiggle and pull (it seems to seat on the tip end of steel barrel) once out it's 2 piece inspect clean , put the 2 baffel pieces together slide it back in place and you can feel a slight seating on the barrel end ( if it don't the nd cap wount g on anyway) put the cap in place install pins and done. Go shoot.
Heck if you're got hat damaged I dont why you can't remove he cap and baffel and just shoot with out any of it . Surely a pellet can hit he end shroud housing all that fits in?
What I'd be concerned with why is the pellets hitting it to start with ? Bent / defective barrel orjst a defective baffel bad plastic mold?
Have you reached out to gamo?
-
I got a wildcat whisper a few months back from tractor supply and grabbed some crossman pointed and the gamo whisper pellets with it and ordered a box of crossman premier FT domes later. It's my first air rifle in over 20 years. I had a Falcon FN12 PCP and a diana 38 break barrel respectively before that.
I can't get the crossman pellets to group less than 1.5" at 25 to 30 yards. The whisper's did better (I'm going to try them again now I'm back into the swing of things) but I'm now on the search for some pellets that work well in this rifle.
What are all of you using and having success with?
I have since got there air rifle bug again and invested in a Hatsan BT65 and pump but still like playing with the gamo and put a 3-9x 40 scope on it.
-
I may have gotten a lemon. I am a very experienced shooter and the best I cold get is a 10" group at 20 yds with the included scope. I bought a $80 tasco air gun scope and was only able to get the group down to 6" once then back to 10" at 20 yds. I'm not sure what to do? return everything and start over or keep spending $$ on scopes.
-
hey pat, this is a older thread, but what you need to do is read about the "artillery hold". it will help a ton. also, use the tasco and get an assortment of pellets. you'll find ones that will shoot better than other ones. Adjust the trigger to be a little lighter and start shooting a bit more. Springers and rammers need to be broken in a bit to make the firing cycle and the pellet velocity more stable. You should expect to be at under 1 in at 20. and at 10, pellets should be touching. I have had gamos that will shoot under 1 inch at 40 yards. The one i have now (fusion swarm in .22) will do it out to 50!. also dont forget to clean the bore a bit... some guns come with gunk on the rifling that will definitely affect accuracy.
It will help if you can show us or tell us what shape your groups have (5 shot minimum). we can diagnose an issue like that... Hope this helps.
