Title: Anyone try the Tuxing brand (on AliExpress) of portable 12V air compressors?
Post by: winkzy on May 24, 2020, 05:19:23 PM
I'm a noob to airguns and am also looking into air compressors. I'm trying to figure out what to buy. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience on these portable 12V compressors found on AliExpress. The one I'm currently looking at is the Tuxing brand of portable compressors. Would pairing this up with one of those Tuxing air filters be good as well? The filters come with a mix of desiccant, activated charcoal, molecular sieve, and cotton. Anyone have experience with these? If you guys have any other suggestions for a noob for air compressors, I would love to know!

It would be helpful to provide a link to the compressor(s) you were referring to since there are a LOT of different sellers and ads on Ali Express that sell almost the same thing.

Any extra filtration would be helpful, the stock filters that I see on Tuxing and Yong Heng pumps aren't really large enough. I can't say if the triple media filters are any good. If it's the smaller black filter for like $35, pass. If it's the large gold filter for $80-120 for a single or $200-240 for a double filter, those work.

Something to consider - most of the 12v pumps aren't really able to do large PCP tank fills like the SCUBA/SCBA-sized tanks. There's a pump sometimes called a "GX3" that looks similar to an Omega Trail Charger that can run for 20 minutes at a time - that can fill bottles if you're patient enough. If you're fine just directly filling the gun then all of them should do for that purpose.

I run a Yong Heng without auto shutoff and with a large extra cotton filter. The factory YH filter catches most of the oil mist (the very little there is) and the big filter removes a good bit of moisture. My pump cost about $300 shipped for the compressor, $80 for the big filter, and another $80 on things like a radiator, fans, bigger water pump, tank, etc. You can use just a 5 gallon bucket instead of the radiator/fans, but I like to tinker and couldn't leave well enough alone.

I don't have a 12v pump myself, but I'm looking to get one in the near-ish future. I just wish I could buy one without the 120v to 12v converter - I have one already that's plenty strong, so I don't need to pay extra for a converter I won't use.

The Hatsan Spark is sold without the power supply.  Around $340.

Thanks. Sorry I didn't post a link. There was some kind of rule saying that I couldn't link outside sites until I have 10 posts. Is your big filter mixed with molecular sieve, desiccant, charcoal, cotton?

If your thinking of the Tuxing, I've had 2 different models, buy from SBTech Store on aliexpress. I've felt with them several times and have always been extremely helpful. Even sent me a bunch of spare parts when I had an issue with one.

I had one and it lasted 10 months or so. I'm trying to get ahold of SBTECH right now to see if they offer the parts I need to fix mine.

I was in the market for a portable compressor too, I heard good and bad reviews on the Tuxing (which is the same as the Hatsan Spark), I wound up buying a CX2 compressor, the reviews were all good and it was cheaper, Amazon has it.
It will be here Monday
I also purchased water/oil separator filter, both large and small.

Also bought Bulk Dessicant

I've looked at that one a couple times.. I may consider it when my Vevor pukes.

Unless it's in the fine print is there a difference, besides physical size, between the JTS GX-E-CS2 and the CS3?

I found my answer. The difference being the CS3 has
 • Auto Shut-off/Set pressure

• Moisture Filter

Which separator did you get?

Which separator did you get?

I got the Airmega filter/separator, I used the hose off one of my hand pumps for an extension hose, it fit the Male threaded fitting on the Separator which "I think" is 1/8 npt, 1/8 BSPP didn't fit it.

and one of these

When I type in Airmega filter/separator here is what came up:

How did you get this to FIT  ;D

Type " PCP compressor oil water separator "

I used the hose from my hand pump for an extension, the hose that came with the separator is I think 1/8" NPT male thread, but it measures 10mm-1.0, ? i didn't use the hose...
