Title: Texan Butt stock
Post by: Dpowers on May 13, 2020, 12:08:43 AM
I believe it would be difficult to get a good cheek rest while resting my face against the air cylinder on the Texan. Is there a remedy for this.
The same goes for the butt stock and pad are there any after market solutions.

Mad dog makes stocks for the airforce guns, and talon tunes has a tank cover with a butt pad, and an adjustable buttpad. I use tall 1" BKL rings on both my condor ss and texan and find the head position is plenty comfortable. Both are stock. My step dad had no issue with my texan the fist time he shot it either.

My stock is one I modified from Boyds. I found while mounting the frame to the stock, any pressure placed on the tank flexes the frame and moves you POI. Not much, but it does move it. With standard rings it makes center of bore 3.75" on mine. The tank being 2.5" means 1.25" of the 3.75, or 2.5" is remaining to the center of the scope. So I just barely touch the tank with my cheek just for reassurance because I don't want to flex the frame. I catch myself wanting to plant my cheek on the tank all the time.  The reason I bring this up is there are only two aftermarket stock makers I am aware of.  In either case buy the cheek riser so you don't have to touch the tank will shooting.

Thank you guys.
I appreciate it.

The Boyds stocks are nice.
I have one on my 308 . I wonder if they will manufacture one specifically for the texan.
Anyone have experience with the KLS stock?

Boyds does not have an Airforce pattern. The AAO Stock comes in a laminated version I think, not sure with Maddog.  I'm going to mill out another for my condor this fall from a Blaster blank. I don't think it will be difficult, just takes time.
