My FX Impact X MKII with the .25/700mm barrel finally came in. took quite a few weeks, but its here! shooting absolute round bug holes at 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. Tony at talon tunes, did an absolute great job on it. he lapped the barrel, polished and tuned it. set it to shoot the 25.4 JSB kings at 925 fps. and it shoots! the scope i picked is the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP. Not 100% sure if I like this scope for it, i think a 4-12 might be more my style. the gun stacks pellets. its insane. if you are at all debating getting one of these rifles, i vote yes. absolutly get it.

Very nice!
-
Congrats and welcome to the club! An Impact, huh? Nice first choice!
-
Congratulations!
Your assimilation is complete ;D
-
hehe thanks guys!
already placed an order for a Yong Heng compressor, the big oil/water separator filter, synthetic high temp compressor oil, STX Superior liner, FX hybrid pellets, and about 3000 JSB Kings. being my 2nd .25 gun i have around 2500 on hand already, but can always have more!
-
FX must be doing something really right,
the following is huge and seems that everyone is super happy with the rifles,...good on ya.
-
Congrats on the FX. I am thinking seriously about joining you. I've had two other guns in mind for several months from two different manufacturers , but too many concerns have developed with both company's when looking forward. My only concern with the Impact is those ~ 30 O-rings it has. I have heard of some leaking, but not in a long while.
-
Trigger, i don't think the leaking o rings is as big of a deal as it used to be. The MKII has really tightened up a lot of issues with them. and the new barrel liners are sweet.
-
Awesome gun Ed !!!

From the outside looking in, I also get the sense leaks aren’t so much an issue these days. I say that based on chatter across several forums and particularly over on AGN. Besides, we know the kinda guy you are. If there’s a leak, you’ll get it sorted out in short order!
The most common thing I see is questions about regulator creep. It has been difficult for me to get a read on what percentage of it is a real problem versus simply not having the hammer spring tension set to the velocity knee, but no doubt it’s less of a problem that you might at first think based on the amount of discussion devoted to the subject. For example, on quite a few occasions I’ve advised people seeing 3 bar of rise or 5 bar of rise. That’s well under 100psi, whose effect will evaporate when tuned correctly.
-
Those impacts are impressive. I recently watched the Utah Airguns .35 video. I'm not necessarily impressed with the energy level of the .35, to me it is sort of anemic for such a large bore size. I would have been much more excited about a 130fpe .308 than a 130fpe .35... But I was impressed with the overall functionality----cycling the sidelever to cock/load appeared to happen effortlessly. I was definitely impressed.
Not sure if it is my style, but I will at least admit to admiring from a distance.
Congrats on the new piece of fine machinery.
-
Congratulations! Awesome pre tuned Impact from Tony! Enjoy 😉.

If it creeps at all, i'm dropping a Huma regulator into it. i kind of want to buy one for the $150 or so that they are, just to make sure it never happens. Reg creep is the one issue i AM worried about.
-
Usually after a regulator "breaks in" any regulator creep is eliminated. It does take more shooting on some guns than others for the regulator to settle. I had a Customer with an FX Crown that had a creep issue. The gun was sent to FX who just shot it till the creep was greatly diminished or eliminated. I don't know but I suspect the bellvilles "wear-in" during use. I have wondered if polishing the bellville stack would make for a more stable regulator.
-
Agreed, a new regulator will benefit from being cycled. That helps the soft side of the valve seat conform to the hard side. If the surfaces are unusually poor (machining marks, scratches, etc.), you can smooth them with wet/dry paper and that will clear it up.
-
I too have an Impact MK II with power plenum but in .22. I bought the slug liner "A" at the same time and swapped the pellet liner for the slug liner. When it was new there was a regulator creep that varied almost 10 bar according to the gauge. I wondered if there was something wrong, but chose to shoot it a lot. Now there is no creep at all, steady as a rock. My fill gauge had a very small leak. A quick 1/4 turn by hand and no leaks.
700mm slug liner shoots the JSB 25.4 grain .22 @ 965 average and the NOE .22 HP-BT which drops @ 28.4 grain @ 925 fps average @ Max on the wheel. 3 magazines of 28.
-
It's good to read the leaky-leaks are a thing of the past. Like I mentioned, I can't say as I have heard about those issues in a good while now.
I have rebuilt serval Huma regs. My last was just before a hunting trip with my Marauder. I set it to 2400 psi, but it creeped up to 2900 psi while on the trip. It was great for night hunting coons at 35 yards, but it threw off my tight ES tune. Once back home off the 10 day trip, I noticed it was back to 2400 psi. It's been solid every since. It does take them a while sometimes to settle down.
I'm thinking a .25 cal power plenum to start. I would like to cast for .25 cal and .30 cal eventually. The .35 cal is a nice mid-power range at ~ 130 FPE, but I already have a .357 Slayer for my big bore needs which I can run up and over twice that power level for 5 shots, which is better for my needs.
I really don't need an FX or any other gun, but I just want one, or something new to play with. Not any gun will do for me at this point in my hobby. The FX Impact sounds like a good contender. I love to tune to an awesome string. It can be a decent challenge to dial'em in tight.
So I don't miss out on any coupon deals or best deals on an Impact, where is the best place to purchase an Impact? I see Trenier Outdoors carriers them. I'm not sure yet about any others.
-
the FX rifles i have are great shooters...a wise choice,i wish i would have started with FX rifles but i had fun along the way deep into the rabbit hole.

Yep...that's the one to get.
congrats on the new rifle.

If I was to buy an Impact, just to get the rifle delivered, I would go with whoever I feel deserves the support of a purchase, and who has the model I want in stock.
If you want one to be delivered already set up, go with Ken Hicks.
Since the FX Hybrids are now available in .25, you could go with the pellet liner and shoot them along with the various JSB diabolos..
My STX pellet liner A shoots the hybrids phenomenally in .22, along with the original and redesigned Monster diabolos.
Supposedly, the slug liner will run out the same with slugs and pellets, but I have no direct experience with one. This option may be best for you if you plan on casting.
I bought my X model in 19, right before the MK ll came out, and have had 0 problems, leaks or anything. NADA, just fill shoot and fiddle with adjustments.
There are gains to be had with flaring the pellet probe and brass transfer port on barrel. There is a very informative thread on AGN dealing with the subject. I found the process to be quite easy, and the FPS gain was noticeable. I went from running Original design .22 Monsters at 900 to running the 22 Gr. FX Hybrids at 900 with no changes except port flaring and Delrin C3 bumper upgrade.
The latest power plenum models may come with a Delrin C3 bumper installed VS the o ring bumper, I am not sure on that. You will want to change out the C3 bumper if you plan on dialing the impact up to hot rod status. There is a very good YouTube video on how to change it out by Edosan that is the absolute easiest method to follow, and if you pull the barrel to port flare it, the process is that much easier.

Impact X 700 MM barrel. Pellet liner A
Probe and transfer port flared, C3 bumper changed to Delrin.
Reg set at 110 bar, hammer wheel on max, valve adjuster at 3.5 lines out from bottom.
left side was playing with valve adjuster and hammer adjuster while scope fiddling.
Group is a full mag of 18 FX Hybrids at 45 yards. Front bipod, rear bag, idiot on trigger!

I see now FX added a Bronze color Impact also. :-\

Cool BEST ! FX gun ! if I ever decide to pay the Swedish tax ::) {and I am Swedish } I would buy that same gun you did for sure … just buy the top dog, and get it over with LOL ! … ;D Yong Heng wise just make sure you run a HIGH pressure compressor oil , DIESTER based Nuvair chemelube 751 I would recommend - so that second stage does not burn oil ,even with royal purple we have seen it burn in the second stage … but Have fun with the FX impact you did right on that 1 for sure …. ;)

No , but they should give me a discount .. ;D ;D Nuvair has the best deal on 1 gallon shipped that I could find , plus in the instructions the yong heng china boys recommend running the 46 oil which is not designed for this use , just like the cheap low volume water pump they use that needs to be replaced by a higher volume 1 …
but you know they could put in their instructions that you have to "tap dance" ,and sing " mary had a little lamb " when you turn the unit on , and I could see certain individuals on here that would do just that … ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) :P

Dan, I am so glad that someone actually paid attention! Woo-Hoo!!!
Man, I love the impact. Kinda out of my price range being disabled and on a very narrow fixed income. Grrrrrr+1!
You said you ordered the superior bbl. Did you mean to say Slug liner X bbl? I cast for .22 and Denis, here on the forum and I have been experimenting with several designs. He is currently using both the Brownells liner and the B slug liner with great results with our cast.
If I cannot order an Impact anytime soon, I will at least purchase the liner and put it in the Mini Raptor! ;)
Congrats Sir!
My Wife being German, does not have the fear of saying things that we might find off color. Seeing your avatar, she said, "That Squirrel has Balls"!, If you shoot it, DON'T Miss!!! Gotta Love It! ;D ;) If you miss, Squirrel will have your ars on a platter. Hit and cook, it will have Michelin tires stamped on it. LOL

Paul ...Smart move at least you know that you have a true high pressure compressor oil , and really its about the same price as royal purple , so why not..
Mike = The smart ones do their research , Paul is one that pays attention to details as you are, and I am , and before I bought oil we did some research , and you pointed out the fact most of the oils guys were recommending were not rated for high pressure compressors , so digging in deep we figured out why you need to run Diester synthetics to get the right protection for the application …

I don't like the statement on the 751 oil that states it strips paint and may destroy seals, plus all of the detergents. Compressor oils are without detergents typically. I'm not saying it's not a good lube, but can't ignore those details either.

Congrats! 130fpe in .35 certainly isnt the ceiling ive made more in .30. You're gonna love it, great platform.

I don't think you have to worry about that at all , we have people that have had that oil for over 3 years in the yong heng and they are doing very well running good … I contacted Nuvair , and North shore compressor I explained what I was running compressor wise ,and both told me diester based oil is what was needed to run a high pressure compressor the demands are much higher in this application …
SYNTHETIC DIESTER OILS ;
They’re specifically designed to give equipment high-quality protection, even when it’s operating in conditions where standard mineral-oil products do not meet expectations. Compared to mineral oils, synthetic diester oil greatly reduces fire hazards and the potential for explosion. Also, due to its higher ignition temperature, it will greatly improve overall safety and performance. Diester oils are commonly recommended and approved by a variety of large compressor manufacturing companies.
We provide a variety of synthetic diester oils that can be used for all types of reciprocating compressors, both new and older models, and for applications for rotary vanes and screws.
There are many general uses that all grades of diester oil can fulfill:
It stays in a fluid state in low-temperature settings.
The operating temperature can remain low due to its high-quality thermal conductivity.
It has a roughly 20% lower friction coefficient.
It’s very stabile in high-temperature settings and won’t disassociate from stress.
It won’t shear during extreme stress or while it’s subjected to heavy loads due to its high mechanical stress resistance.
It’s better for metal wetting due to its overall reduction in metal to metal wear-polar properties.
It has better rust and corrosion resistance due to its high-quality demulsibility characteristics, so moisture will separate readily.
It’s also much more energy efficient.
Diester oil is specifically designed to be used as a cylinder lubricant in a crankcase and can be used with virtually all types of elastomers that are commonly used in pumps and compressors, including crankcase paint.

Guys, let's not dirty up the OP's post with an oil debate. There's already a lengthy one started for that.

I am also looking into buying the Impact , and you are right I just posted on that Yong heng thread and its back to the top page 1 .
I would like to know just how much power you can make with the .35 impact ? FPE ? … I was thinking about Having Dan Mcvey XP airguns build me a .357 or 308 long barrel … but with the impact I can run .30 and .35 repeater …

I would love to own an impact! ;) 8)

I am with Dan on the available power. I see the posted specs (25 cal. for me), but would like to know what can it do above that. I have held off on an FX due to low power specs for a long time. I know the new power plenum alone changes things for the better in the power department, and now has me back interested in one once I know more about what they can do now.

Nice I love my FX

I can get 99fpe in .25 with the bigger plenum, 6.5mm valve seat, ported barrel inlet and probe, reg at 150-155 with the 700mm. The bigger plenum is a game changer.
