Title: 1st Starling in a long while
Post by: wolverine on April 22, 2020, 10:24:42 AM
we haven't had a starling in the yard for months and this morning i spotted one on the suet cake 39 yards out.  i slipped into the garage where the back door was already opened from shooting a squirrel that was eating the buds off the pin oak.  it took a .177 from the Red Ryder in it's rear quarter and lost its appetite.  ;D

getting into position at the bench, i wanted to use the 2400KT, but i left it in the garage and it's only 43* so that was a no go.  i grabbed the HW100 BP-K and lined up the shot, i almost forgot to turn the Tactacam on as i was sure it would take off before i got to shoot it.  with no time to focus the scope, i take the shot and the pellet hits with a resounding smack!  only it doesn't connect with the yellow beak, but the fence 10 yards behind it.  aahh man, i've been shooting 1/2" paintballs off golf tees at that distance all last week with nary a miss.  wth?
in the video you can just see the pellet going over the starling.

Paintballs don't move and make you rush your shot.

Looks like you gave that starling a little trimming off the back of the nape though.
