Well today I was chronying different pellets and trying different holds.
I am shooting off sticks and the rifle is placed on the sticks at the rifles stock screw location. Now to try to explain some of my abbreviations it goes something like this:
Tips of fingers (TOF)- I used the tips of my fingers of my right hand (for I am a right hand shooter) and placed them on the vertical line of the checkering on the pistol grip
Thumb on side (TOS)- thumb on the side of pistol grip. Basically the thumb is not touching the rifle.
Thumb on edge (TOE)- thumb om upper and outter edge of checkering on pistol grip. Where checkering and smooth wood meet. Furtherest away from Palm.
Thumb up (TU)- the thumb is laid on the back and center of the pistol grip. Like it would be on the dovetail if the dovetail continued down the back or top of the grip
1st digits(1st joint of the index, middle and ring finger)- I did all three thumb positions with the 1st digit placement as I did with the finger tips.
Just showing people who may not know what the difference in holds can do to a springer's poi (point of impact)
I'm also saying that the artillery hold is not the end all with all. Try everything. Tomorrow I may even repeat this with the sticks under the bell area of the scope. Any closer to the trigger guard gives me too much wobble.
The chrony data was taken with a pro digital chronograph about one foot from the muzzle and they were 30 shot strings except for the CP 7.9gr domes from the brown box and target was at 25yds.
Just in case the pics don't come through here is the chrony data.

Jay, wonderful groups! Saw Steve of AEAC do a full review of this springer...incredible machine! Didn’t know it had a 9” barrel! One of these is on my want list. Enjoy shooting yours! And, yes, try every and all holds when learning the springer you are shooting 👍. Had a D48 that wanted a very firm hold and a D34 that liked the artillery hold.

Great shooting Brother Jay!!! I love my Pro Sports, the .177 (14fpe) is mainly for plinking while the .22 (19fpe) is a great hunting gun. John in PA tuned both of these guns and they went from amazing to TOTALLY AMAZING!!! The triggers are so nice and the Walnut is Gorgeous. Enjoy my BROTHER!!
