Decided to sight in with the JSB .22 cal. 15.89 gr Hades for some rat killing at a farm I have permission on. Have shot nothing but the JSB 18.13 gr. Exact Jumbo Heavy Diabolos prior to them, which grouped great. Wanted the Hades for the hollow point. Picture shows how well they group out of my Daystate .22 Pulsar. 4 shots. Basically one hole.Distance wasn't that far, 22 yards which is the max shooting distance for the rats I'll be killing.

yeah, that's pretty good!

John, those rats are in trouble! 🤓👍

That looks good indeed. I’m finding the Hades hold up nearly as well as a good dome out to 50 yards, however expansion is practically nonexistent in furry critters even at short distance and high velocity (ex. 30 yards, 900fps). For 20-25 yard duty on rats, a wadcutter will deliver the same damage (if not more) at a lower cost. Granted I know there aren’t a lot of choices in .22 cal, and it’s probably not worth the trouble if you’re only using a few pellets each outing but I just wanted to mention it in case the circumstances warrant it.

Thanks for the info Jason. Much appreciated

+1
Non-FAC hunters in england have know this for a very long time. wadcutters are devistating head shot pellets. But I'm surprised at the low expansion... benn away for a bit, time do search around on here about it. They've shot great out of every gun that liked the 16gn Exacts. I just havn't hunted em.

Those Hades are certainly super accurate out of that Pulsar at 22yd.
I think you should give these a try:

Yeah the new .22 Daisy hollowpoints are surprisingly accurate. I mean prior to trying them, I couldn’t have had a lower opinion of Daisy pellets. They group better than CPHP I’ve gotten in recent years and, unlike Crosman’s design, the hollow is big enough and the alloy soft enough to actually function. Granted some of us are finding defective ones in the tin (not fully formed) but it’s easy to spot and avoid them. The only one I’ve recovered so far is from a gray squirrel and it had expanded slightly more than a Hades, despite a much lower MV of 750fps versus 900fps. It looks like an excellent choice out to at least 30 yards in my QB.
