Due to a move and launching of a new store, I haven't been active on here for the last three yrs. However, your input would be greatly appreciated. Long story short, my Discovery was stolen from the warehouse. The person responsible had no clue what kind of rifle it was because the pump next to it wasn't taken. So, as a replacement, I'm looking for an entry level PCP (because I'm helping a daughter pay for college). It needs to be .22cal, regulated, backyard friendly, and able to dispatch squirrels and groundhogs up to 40 yards. Is the Umarex Gauntlet still a great choice? Since it's been out for a few yrs and has a track record, is it reliable? Is there another gun to consider?

The gauntlet or the nova liberty or gamo urban. I'd say the urban is the best one for straight out the box ready to shoot without any issues. Very pump and backyard friendly. Will shoot cheap crosman pellets very well.

A solid choice! ;)

The Crosman Fortitude is a good choice also.

Thanks for the responses. Really liked the Disco with the LDC, Marauder trigger, bi-pod and one of my better scopes on it. Wish I still had it but this gives an excuse to get a regulated, multi-shot air rifle.

the umarex Gauntlet is a good choice and you can get it for under $300, Walmart and Amazon both have it for $285, for the .22 cal. and free shipping.

+1. The Gauntlet is well known for excellent accuracy. Mine shoots almost as well as my high priced airgun. I had a Disco, and the Gauntlet is way more accurate. It’s heavy but most of the early problems have been resolved. If hunting is your thing, go with a lighter gun, but if accuracy is first on your list, go with the Gauntlet. You won’t be disappointed. Incidentally, I personally would not want to pump it but you’ll get an honest 60 shots per charge. Another thing, Hajimoto’s trigger mod is super ez and makes the trigger very acceptable.

I do bench shooting and backyard squirrel sniping. I don't have a place to go slogging through the woods. The city has closed all businesses they deem nonessential until this virus issue is under control. Therefore, it would be prudent to save the money and wait 'til I go back to work :-\. Fairly certain the Gauntlet will be the one. It'll be so nice to have a regulated gun, it will be shot a lot more than the old one. It seems as though after the 6th or 7th shot, the POI on the Discovery would change.

Have bought 2 Nova Liberty airguns and am VERY impressed with them and the features for the price. I took a chance on the special "parts" gun purchase of $100 + $18 shipping and by luck of the draw got two outstanding units. But I wouldn't hesitate to pay full retail of $349 for another one.

Whatever you choose....

The Liberty Nova is a nice looking gun. Since I have time, I'll do some research on it.

I just bought the Gauntlet .22 on Amazon, I couldn't pass up the deal, they still have some left, Walmart is out of stock. :D
