Title: Killer Deal on Bushnell Nitro 5-20x44 FFP(Deploy MOA FFP reticle)!
Post by: Rallyshark on March 17, 2020, 11:21:05 PM
I just wanted to share this deal and give a mini review while I'm at it.  I know a lot of you may not be poking around for Bushnell scopes for the air guns, with all of the other options out there.  I got the email from SWFA a few days ago, and ordered it within 5 minutes, because it checked all the boxes I've been wanting ;)

As the title says, this is on a Bushnell Nitro 5-20x44 with the Deploy MOA FFP reticle.  They are normally a $589-649 scope, but they are on sale at SWFA right now for $299.  They still have some in stock at the moment, so if you're thinking about it, you better move fast.  There likely won't be anymore after these are gone.

After getting my hands on the scope, I can say without a doubt this is a heck of a good scope for the money.  I'd even go so far as to say it is bordering on a steal.  You won't find many reviews on this particular model out there, for some reason.   Trust me I looked.  I found one or two, but most were on other models in the range.  The bad news is I didn't post this in time for you guys to get in on the mail in rebate from Bushnell, but I wanted to put it on a gun first to make sure I didn't just like it because it was a new toy.  That mail in rebate ended on 3-15.  With the mail in rebate, my cost on the scope will be $212.99  :o  I still say it is an awesome scope for $299 just the same!  Heck, I'd even go so far as to say it is a solid scope for the $600 it was selling for.

I've been trying to find a scope with a bit more zoom than my Falcon 3-18, since I've been stretching things out with the slugs.  I also wanted to keep the weight down and size down, and I didn't want to go to a 50+mm scope.  I love my Falcon scopes, but I gotta say, I think this Nitro has better glass.  It is crazy clear edge to edge, and that reticle is great too!  This is geared more towards a long range hunter than a target scope.  It has capped target turrets, with o-ring seals on them.  That is great when banging around through the woods.  I rarely dial in for long shots, and prefer to use the reticle for my holdovers.  That's another great thing, this has numbered markers all the way to 50 MOA and you can still see down to 30 MOA even at 20x.  I'm digging this reticle way more than I thought I would!  Again, amazingly clear image and reticle.  The turrets are great without the caps though.  They have very solid clicks, but without the click sound.  The markings on the turrets are well laid out, and easy to read.  I like that they aren't loud when adjusting.  The clicks are very positive, and there's no chance of not knowing how many clicks you moved or accidentally going to far.  The side parallax does go down to 10 yards, fyi.  It is firm but smooth, and the numbering on the dial appears to be spot on from my initial testing.

I'll try and take some pictures through the scope tomorrow, if I get time after work.  I mainly wanted to get this posted so any of you looking for a good scope that wasn't a ton of $$ would have a chance to snag one.  I highly recommend it, if you're looking for a scope in the $300 range.  I already camouflaged the scope, so it isn't black anymore, but that don't really matter.  It has a great dull matte finish though, and feels very solid.  It came with flip up lens caps, a sunshade, and lens cloth.  I've been eyeing a few scopes from various manufactureres lately, but just couldn't find the one that checked the right boxes for me.  It was all packed in a nice foam cutout box/sleeve.  Below are the main boxes it ticked for me, and the reason I jumped on it :)

- 24oz
- 5-20x44
- FFP
- 10 yards to infinity parallax
- MOA/MOA Reticle with numbered markings for holdover
- Price
- Capped target turrets, so I don't have to worry about knocking them off when hunting.
- Good lens coatings
- 80 MOA of adjustment range!

Here's a few pictures of the scope.  I couldn't get a good picture through the scope with my real camera, so the through scope pics are cropped images taken with my phone.  They do not do justice to how clear that glass really is  :-[   I can tell you I could read the brand on a neighbor's HVAC unit in their yard at 271 yards away  :o  The first picture is at 20X and the second is at 12X(I think) at some trees about 45 yards away.  There are also a few pics of it on the Turkenstein and of the turrets.  You can also unscrew the top of the turrets to zero them, which I haven't done yet.  I have the sunshade attached to the scope, so it isn't really that long.  I'm really digging this scope.  We'll find if I really, really like it next time I get to do some 100+ yard shooting.

That Flashpup looks great, Donny!

What did you use for the camo skin?

That's a nice scope, but I've recently picked up a Vortex Diamondback. Excellent scope!

Thanks!  I used the Mossy Oak Shotgun Wrap in the "Obsession" pattern.  It blends in really well, especially on a gun that the stock is done on too!  It is basically 3m vinyl wrap, and it can be removed without damage to the gun.  Here's one of my "regular" Flash that I did the stock on.  You can see why I chose that particular patter ;)
