Title: Has anyone tried the jefferson state air rifle scope 4-27 x50 scope they sell.
Post by: Leo 2018 on February 19, 2020, 09:58:16 PM
I am looking at the JSAR Hawk rifle in .22cal. and seen option for this scope in 4-27x50 second focal plane. Just wandering if it's worth trying? Thanks

The site gives virtually no information.  Personally I wouldn't take the chance.  You should be aware that beyond about sixteen power it will become touchy to use due to the size of the objective lens.  For their asking price I'd look at scopes with a lifetime warranty.

Thanks. I can't find any info either. I have time to look for something else just checking to see if I could check GTA for info on it.

Just got the First Focal version with my 30 cal raptor so I am in a very good mood!

It is a nice scope for the money I paid as part of EZ package

Love the radical and illumination
Love the turrets range

Parallax is still new and stiff

Nice sun shade and covers

Haj has included a bit in the Hawk overview
I think it is a rebranding for JSAR made by Discovery but not sure

I'm pretty sure this is the same scope, it just doesn't have the JSAR Logo on it...

That add for the PERSEI scope shows the same issue as shown on a number of other sites. It appears to have a mil reticle in the picture, but the picture shows MOA turrets. And then the text of the add says it has "1/10 MIL" turrets. I had ordered a JSAR scope, but was never able to get anyone to confirm the actual turret values. I asked a couple people that got the JSAR scope to check it for me, but no one did. I cancelled the scope order until I could confirm some things. Those types of errors and skimpy info about the scope does not instill much confidence in the product/dealer. I guess most people just click the turrets until it's sighted in and don't care if the turret values match the markings. I think some of these outfits don't even know/appreciate the difference between  MIL, MOA, and inch turrets.

The JSAR web site shows what appears to be 1/4 MOA turrets, but the web site says 1/10 MOA turrets. And the picture on the web site order page does not match the sample that I saw.

Scotchmo, 😊

I have the same thoughts!

🔶 I'm in the process of updating my Scope Specs Tables with the new 2020 scopes — and oh, some companies skimp on information, hide it in sub-sub menues, in pdf docs, or simply ommit it...!  😟

🔶 Then there are companies that try to make up for their information stinginess by quickly responding to my email with a spread sheet with all the relevant specs.... (Swampfox). 👍🏼

🔶And then there are companies that in their catalog give you a full specs table of all their scopes, side by side, all on one page — stellar! (Athlon). 👍🏼
I can just go down the table and eliminate those that I'm not interested in —
no 10y parallax ➔ out
capped turrets ➔ out
etc.

🔶 Then there are those unfortunate companies that still make and sell most of their scopes with unmatched turrets/reticles (Nikko Sterling, UTG, MTC; even Hawke does it).
➔  😟  ➔   😡

Maybe this last one is the Micro$oft phenomenon — the machine/program/scope is dumbed down to the needs/requests of the lower third of the mass users....

And changes for those who want more performance/ features are very difficult to make — because it's all been foolproofed....   ::)

Rat over.
I'm glad scopes are getting better and better, for less and less money!
Not just for airguns we're living in a Golden Age — also for scopes it seems!  😄

Skimpy info is not good. But what's worse, is wrong info. There are plenty of sites with wrong info on their scope sales pages.

I agree with most of what you said, however, inch turrets are an exception and I do not expect them to match the reticle. So an SFP scope with mil reticle and inch turrets is fine with me. That's what UTG uses, and there are good reasons to use that combination. Though I'll agree that FFP scopes with mil reticles or MOA reticles should have corresponding mill turrets or MOA turrets.
