Title: February groundhog down
Post by: ghost5 on February 09, 2020, 03:16:01 PM
Yesterday the wind chill was rough but I managed to get some pesting done with 22 cal Hades pellets for the first time. Today the temps are near 60° but the wind is at 22 mph and mostly full value. Yep almost a mil hold at 40 yds .

So I have been thumping starlings but came to the truck for a minute. When I got back out a groundhog ran across the parking lot and stopped by its burrow about 25 yds away. I lost sight of it but stood behind my truck for a minute and sure enough he popped his head up. Thank you says I and took a back of the head shot. He did the rodent spin and flop enough to get in the burrow just far enough I can't reach him. Hate that.

Oh well back to shooting starlings or trying to in this wind. I have about half dozen or so down so far.

Congratulations on getting an early woodchuck! Hard to believe they'd be out in the cold weather like today. As a matter of fact, this one below was run over in the road after church today. It's cloudy and barely 40 degrees out. There is still a little bit of snow from the couple inches that came down yesterday.

That was a nice snow shower--started up about 10 AM and ran to about 3 PM, really pretty at its peak. One of the best we've had in years.  ;) ;)

I had to look up the weather in your area. Wow, I wouldn't have guessed it would be that warm just over the mountains from me. Almost 60 degrees vs 39.
